The best truffle fries in Charleston, which made up for the slow service. We came during restaurant week but I saw the hostess more than our server. I had to ask the hostess to flag down our server.

The lamb chops were tasty and my friend said the pear tart was really good too. My crème brûlée was fine, nothing special. I wish there was a dedicated mocktail menu but I was able to get a virgin mojito.

So, I gave the Peacock 2 tries. My husband and I arrived a few min early for our 7pm reservation for V-Day and waited until about 7:15 to be sat. There were lots of 6:45/7 reservations waiting in the lobby. When we got our table, we noticed the menu wasn’t as expected. The NY strip, cavatelli pasta, shrimp & grits, and the tuna weren’t on the menu, and the only two items that remained the same were pricier than usual. Our server said she was just as surprised as us that there was a different menu as it was not communicated anywhere beforehand. Honestly, with the menu being an entirely different vibe, we just decided to have a drink and an appetizer.

We ordered the crab dip ($22!!, also more than the reg menu) which tasted like lemon cheese dip. The chips were perfectly crunchy and plentiful though. The manager came over to say she heard the menu wasn’t what we expected and gave us a gift card to return. I said we would because I was still excited to try the shrimp & grits. I do want to shout out our server, who was very nice and apologetic.

We returned on Thursday and sat at the bar for a casual bite ~5:30pm (& I saw online that food is 10% off at the bar during happy hour, which was not the case). They had live music, which was lovely. We ordered the shrimp & grits – $10 more expensive than the gift card we were given, but we wanted to try it regardless. They were, unfortunately, sold out already. We got the “smash” burger & bang bang shrimp, which were very tasty, but the burger is not smash, it’s just a fairly thin patty. I liked the sauce on the shrimp a lot. We did wait about 25 minutes for sauce after asking twice, and these two items still ran us about $40.

I’m not sure if they’re not accustomed to high volume or if there are some management miscommunications, but there are plenty of other stellar dining options in the area at a similar or more palatable price point.

We popped in for dinner and ended up eating at the bar. Food and service was exceptional. David was a fantastic bartender and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits and the house salad with greens and grains.

Great time at the Peacock recently for a date night. Sat at the downstairs bar which had a great atmosphere. David was a charismatic and attentive bartender. He makes a great Gold Rush, highly recommend. Also the green beans are out of this world (don’t knock it till you try it). Will definitely visit again!

We sat the the downstairs bar, great drinks and even better service. Bartenders were all very attentive and friendly. But ultimately George and Ashley are better than Dave (Lol) Only kidding about Dave he was fantastic!! Will definitely go back!

Nice selection of cocktails with interesting twists. Three level restaurant with a bar on each level, including the rooftop. Rooftop seemed cool but was closed because it was raining, heavy at times. Lots of cool period piece decor that served as nice points of interest for Instagram photos.

This is one of the best meals we’ve had in years. The menu items sound straightforward, but the flavors they get in there are mind-blowing.

We had the bruschetta and blistered green beans for appetizers, and then a sweet fish dish for the entree. That bruschetta rivaled some of the best Italian places we’ve been. The green beans were amazing and very Asian inspired. The fish is something I hope they add to their regular menu – idk what kind of fry they did, but it was light and crispy and perfect.

The best dessert ever is their s’mores lava cake. It was moist and light with the perfect balance of a marshmallow cream on top.

Their drinks didn’t disappoint either – the gold rush was a twist on a classic bourbon drink but better. It had a nice peppery kick that I’ve never had before. Also, if you like espresso martinis, get their version. It has a smoky pecan liqueur that sends it next level.

Go to this place!

The Peacock in Charleston is such a fun and memorable spot! It has three levels of dining, cocktails, and live entertainment—including a rooftop with gorgeous views of the harbor. The vibe was energetic but still relaxed, and the service was top-notch.

Our server, Joshua, was awesome—friendly, attentive, and really made the experience even better. The menu by Chef Matthew Greene is creative and full of flavor, combining classic comfort dishes with international twists.

We tried the Smash Burger with local beef and applewood bacon—so juicy and flavorful—and the Market Catch (snowy grouper) was perfectly cooked. The chicken wings were crispy and bold, especially with the mango habanero sauce. And don’t skip dessert—the peach strawberry cobbler with peach ice cream was the perfect sweet ending.

Whether you’re going for dinner or just a night out with drinks and music, The Peacock really delivers. Highly recommend checking it out!
