An incredible experience! We went as a group of 4 on a busy saturday night. We ordered 1x oyster with scallions, 1x sauteed morning glory (rau muong), 2x deconstructed chicken pho (sold out really quickly, we went at 6:30pm and there were 5 portions left), 1x pho Nam Dinh, and 1x bun cha Ha Noi. Omg everything tasted so fresh and authentic. The meat in bun cha was so well marinated. Love that the pho Nam Dinh has fresh noodles (iykyk) instead of the dry ones. Service was slightly slower on the weekend but understandable. Overall, can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I came here for an early Valentine’s Day dinner. The atmosphere is gorgeous—cozy warm lighting from the dozens of paper lanterns on the ceiling, plants, posters, and eye candy galore! We ordered a selection of dishes from the small/medium dish menu, including Sapa skewers, fried stuffed rice cakes, and Bun Cha Han Noi (pork and rice noodles).
Our food arrived quickly and was bursting with flavors. The skewers were tender and served with a delicious, herby dipping sauce. The rice cakes were a glorious, crispy/chewy texture filled with a savory pork filling. The pork and noodles were served with a tray of veggies and herbs with a hearty broth. This dish was so fun to eat, as there were so many flavor combinations to try to make every bite unique.
The star of the show was the puffed pho noodles. I am so glad we took the waiter’s suggestion to try this dish because it was truly spectacular. The puffed pho was like nothing I’ve ever had—perfectly crisp with a chewy, mochi-like interior. It was topped with a stir-fry of buttery soft beef, bok choy, and tomatoes in a delectable sweet/spicy/salty sauce. Seriously. This dish is good. It’s the one I keep thinking about, and I will absolutely be back to have it again.

Reading a review in Axios Portland convinced me to go, and I almost missed the restaurant because it’s in the middle of a block that doesn’t look commercial at all. But oh am I glad I went. I usually have good food in other places, but seldom have memorable food. This was memorable. I had the fish bun cha and it was awesome. I highly recommend going here.

The Paper Bridge is an excellent Vietnamese spot with really flavorful dishes. The décor and atmosphere are warm and stylish, making it a great place for a nice dinner out. We had the Fried Pork Cakes, Bun Cha, and Nam Dinh Beef Pho—everything was delicious and full of depth. Service was great and attentive, but reservations are highly recommended since it gets busy. Definitely a place worth planning ahead for.

The Paper Bridge is an absolute gem! We ordered a wide variety of dishes and every single one was super delicious. The duck leg pho was rich and flavorful, and their monthly specials were a fun surprise..definitely worth trying! We also went heavy on the small appetizer plates, and wow… each one was perfectly seasoned and paired with dipping sauces that were truly chef’s kiss.
The inside aesthetic is sooo cozy, warm, and inviting, making it the perfect spot to gather with friends over a meal. The servers and staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful in walking us through the menu, which made the whole experience even better.
A couple of tips: it’s street parking only, so plan ahead. And I’d recommend making a reservation so you can get seated right away, otherwise there was always a line out the door, and it stayed busy the entire time we were there.
If you’re in Portland and craving Vietnamese food, Paper Bridge should be at the top of your list!

The Paper Bridge is a beautiful restaurant. We were able to walk in and get a table without waiting too long.
However, it did take quite a long time for our food to be served. We ordered simple sausages and the signature pho, yet the wait was surprisingly long.
That said, the food itself was good. What I enjoyed most were the attentive staff members and their ability to explain the culture and story behind both the food and the restaurant.
I would recommend this restaurant if you’re not short on time.

Excellent hospitality and ambiance, really beautiful lanterns. The food and teas were amazing, everything was amazing. We love tea and they have a huge amount of lovely options. We tried Tra Nhai Dac Thom – Jasmine tea with pineapple and sugar palm fruit and Tra O Long Que Hoa – Cinnamon Oolong tea fermented with cinnamon blossoms. The sugar palm fruits were a delicious bonus treat I had never had before.
We had the starter Dungeness Crab Spring rolls which were delicate and savory, with very, very good flavors, and I loved the dipping sauce. I had the pho Bun Cha Ha Noi which was delicious with a large assortment of a variety of herbs and greens. I feel like this is a more authentic version of Bun Cha that is my favorite at local restaurants but it was definitely a lot fancier with the exotic herbs and all the different types of pork that it came with, and I used all the very hot chili and side garlic in my broth. My husband had the Pho Chua Lang Son – Lang son style tossed pho. The differences in our noodles was intriguing and his was very delicious. Somehow mine seemed much bigger with all the fresh herbs and the hearty serving of grilled pork.
We will be back to try the half duck and the different fish specials.
The Vietnamese coffe with condensed milk they do looks incredible, but there are so many amazing teas etc. to try.
It’s going to take a lot of lunches and dinners to try a lot more dishes and drinks.

My friends were headed to Hanoi in a week so I wanted to introduce them to Northern Vietnamese cuisine before their trip. The Paper Bridge is the perfect place in town.
I would highly recommend reservations as the restaurant is very popular. Online reservations are a breeze, and street parking was easily accessible.
The food and service here are excellent. They have a wonderful assortment of food that has descriptions in the back of the menu. It really takes the guesswork out of what you are ordering. Their dessert also changes every month so it definitely makes it worth coming back to enjoy another delicious meal.
I would highly recommend coming here if you have never had Northern Vietnamese food. It is one of my favorite cuisines and The Paper Bridge does an excellent job bringing it stateside to enjoy.
