My wife and I have very limited experience with African foods. This restaurant is a fusion style. Victor, the manager walked us through the menu helped me to avoid my allergic triggers. The food was delicious, so much so that we will be back soon. The restaurant is young and growing, they ask for critiques to make it better. I can not recommend any higher this restaurant.

the business is fenced in and there’s a short opening to get into the parking lot. there’s plenty of parking and seating inside.
the interior decoration is nice and clean.
once I walked in, immediately a male employee who sat at one of the front table and a male employee who sat at the bar, stared hard to me and wouldn’t stop staring. I was so uncomfortable, I almost left, but the hostess sat me far away from them.
the food here is very delicious, flavorful and fresh and they give big portions for food. the lady cook was very kind.
the drinks here were good but very small cups, they were more like shooters when I ordered cocktails. the bartender was nice and brought me out the drinks I ordered.
my waitress was nice but not attentive, she did not check on me, only when she brought my food, I couldn’t even see her most of the time to get any service or refills.
I ordered a lot of food and when I asked for to go boxes, my waitress gave me boxes with mixed matched lids so it didn’t even close.
the hostess walked by and got me a bag because I had so much food spilling out and asked how it was.
I paid and was still at the restaurant for a while, finishing my water and packing my food, when I finally left, the hostess and a male employee chased me outside to the parking lot, and wouldn’t tell me why. I was standing in the parking lot when it was so cold outside waiting for them. They finally asked me if I paid, which I did a while ago and hung out at the restaurant for a while even after I paid.

My overall experience at the Palms was a 3/10. The food doesn’t taste the same I ate there a couple months ago and it was good but now the food is plain and bland. My server was a very energetic and sweet girl Makita she made my experience and tried her best to meet all my needs and probably the only reason I’d come back. They don’t have everything they portray on the menu and the men which I’m guessing are managers on the restaurant constantly stare and make the environment uncomfortable. The floors were relatively dirty and the bartender was not experience with making drinks. Overall 3/10

The Palms Restaurant & Bar in Lanham is truly a gem. The place is beautiful, clean, and has that classic, welcoming atmosphere. My children absolutely loved the well-seasoned chicken with plantains, and the jollof rice was just wow. I also enjoyed the vegetables with fufu — no complaints at all. I’ve finally found my go-to spot for a clean, authentic African restaurant. Highly recommend
