The Owl Bar is a bar next to the general store at Sundance Resort. It’s easy to get to from the front area and parking here is ok depending on how busy the resort is. It’s got an old west theme to it inside, with about 2 dozen tables mixed between inside and outside. Their menu isn’t massive but they do have some delicious things on there like the nachos, however the price per portion is a bit high (but that’s a resort for you). The service is great with bartenders like Andrew and Sage, with everything coming out at a good pace and tasty drinks made. Overall it’s a cool spot to grab a drink or some food.

I have only previously had the pleasure to visit the Sundance area during the winter season to enjoy dinner at The Tree Room, but I had not yet had the opportunity to visit during the summer! After this recent visit, I plan to come here much more frequently during the summer!

My husband and I had just finished hike and were actually heading to The Foundry Grill when we had realized The Owl Bar was already open. The bar is all open seating, including the outside, so we took a chance and were able to find some seating in the shade which was great! The outdoor patio was so peaceful and the scenery around was absolutely beautiful.

We ordered a couple appetizers and some drinks which all turned out great! I did ask our waitress a couple strange questions, like if they made the prickly pear juice in house or if it’s a purchased syrup, so kudos to her for being so kind to my strangeness, hahaha. I did still go ahead and order the Prickly Pip and my worry was confirmed (the syrup was a bit heavy on the sweetness), but the other elements of the drink helped to balance that out a bit. I also ordered just a classic Lime Margarita, and that drink was executed very well! Very refreshing in the summer heat.

As for our appetizers, we noticed that many people had ordered the Nachos, so we did as well. Nachos are one of my favorite staple appetizers, and I loved these ones especially. Good distribution of the toppings and I also really enjoyed the black beans were partially mashed! The star of our whole meal had to have been the Fried Pickles!! I decided last minute that we would grab an order of the Fried Pickles, and I can confidently say that it would have been a mistake if we did not!! The breading on the pickle was so light and simultaneously had a slight crunch to it. Quite possibly the best fried pickle that I have ever consumed. Also, the chipotle aioli dipping sauce was incredible. It had a nice spice to it and wasn’t so heavy that it would take away from the bright flavor of the pickle; the two paired together was so complimentary.

Overall, I am so glad we stumbled into the bar so we could enjoy this meal! Would very much recommend visiting during the summer (I bet even late summer and early fall would be outstanding). Cannot wait to return!!

This place is an absolute gem!

The food is nothing short of amazing—every bite is bursting with flavor and clearly made with care. The drinks? Perfection. From expertly crafted cocktails to refreshing non-alcoholic options, there’s something for everyone. And let’s talk about the atmosphere—it’s absolutely incredible! Whether you’re looking for a cozy spot to unwind or a vibrant vibe for a night out, this place delivers. Highly recommend for anyone seeking great food, fantastic drinks, and an unforgettable experience!

Food is good, service is great but a bit slower if sitting outside.

4th time and this was not a good experience. We sat in the back room near the fireplace and everything is fine. We ordered our drinks and food thought we’d enjoy the view the music and then our server decided it was smart to try and fit a 10 topper at the 6 topper next to us even having the nerve to ask if he could fit a chair between our tables. Mind you there is two of us and easily visible that it wasn’t humanly possible to squeeze another big heavy rustic chair between the tables . Mind you we now had been sandwiched between two very large groups in a 16 person room . Each time out server came to service either tables I pretty much had my elbows in his back pockets . After 20 minutes of this we asked to move . We were enjoying ourselves for a few hours when out of nowhere I was asked to move again to keep the emergency exit more clear. This was two hours after we had to move but fine we were waiting for our dinner reservations next door at Foundry Grill until we were wrapping up and asked if my pregnant girlfriend could take her non-alcoholic juice to our dinner spot and they declined saying we couldn’t bring her pomegranate spritz . You know it really tested my patience because we more than dealt with inconvenience in the most polite ways and over and over again we were asked to deal with bad service. I will not recommend Owl Bar without passing on the experience.

The Owl Bar is by far my favorite little spot for a drink in Provo! We had a yummy dinner there. The staff are so sweet and were happy to accommodate my gluten/dairy free restrictions. I ordered the Jimmy Buffets revenge (so tasty) to drink and the chicken burger (GF bun) and a side salad. I love the ambiance here and I make an effort to come up here every time I’m in town visiting. Worth the trip up Provo Canyon!

I don’t know what kind of sorcery is happening in the kitchen at The Owl Bar, but I’m convinced the chef is a full-blown wizard. There’s simply no other explanation for food this delicious. Every bite was a perfectly balanced potion of flavor, texture, and creativity — like he waved a wand and summoned the exact dish I didn’t even know I was craving.

As if that wasn’t enough, the service was pure magic. Our waitress Cassie must be clairvoyant. She anticipated our every need before we could even voice them — drinks appeared right when we were thinking about refills, recommendations matched our tastes to a tee, and her timing was absolutely otherworldly. It felt like she was reading our minds (or at least our mood).

Dining at The Owl Bar wasn’t just a meal — it was an enchanting experience from start to finish. Whatever enchantments they’ve got going on back there, I hope they never break the spell.

I rarely leave reviews, but our experience at The Owl Bar at Sundance was such a disaster that I feel others should be warned.
First, they charge a $5 cover fee for no reason whatsoever, you don’t get anything for it. Supposedly it’s for live music, but if you sit outside you can’t even hear it, so it’s just profit-taking.
The food was worse than the fee. My husband ordered a burger, and not only did they mess up his order (bringing his sweet potato fries separately), but he ended up with massive diarrhea afterward. My own order was completely wrong, it came covered in dairy, which I had specifically mentioned I am allergic to. I couldn’t eat it, so my entire dinner ended up being just French fries.
On top of that, the rest of our food came out 90 minutes later (yes, an hour and a half!). The appetizer of Brussels sprouts was poorly cooked, honestly, my third grader could have done a better job.
The kitchen seems to have no clue how to run properly. For the high prices they charge, the service and food quality are unacceptable. I can cook better meals at home without any culinary training.
We will never go back, and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Overpriced, disorganized, and simply not worth it.

My overall grade for The Owl Bar is: A

Firstly, please sit outside if at all possible. The view is epic and really, that canyon is really why people go to Sundance. There are hummingbirds flying all over feeding at the feeders. The creek next to the bar is running just as fast as possible.

Drinks: spot-on. All of their cocktails are great.

Food: great stuff. The wagyu burger is amazing. Cooked just right. The sweet potato fries were great and I don’t care for sweet potatoes. Best I have had.

Also ordered chicken wings & a wedge salad. Both were very good. A small detail, there were only drum sticks and no flats in our order of wings. Hmm.

Service: excellent. Our server was great, friendly & efficient.

Everyone outside was having a great time.

Highly recommended!!

I’ve been there a couple of times and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The most recent visit we sat outside and it made the whole evening amazing. The weather was perfect and such pretty surroundings. The pretzel was fun to try and the burger when garlic fries were yummy. The bacon jam is so different but good.
