This beautiful historic hotel/restaurant has been on my to-go-to list for years. My husband treated me on a weeknight so we were able to get in without a reservation. The ambience is top-notch, taking you back to early twentieth century splendor. Food choices were unique but I went with the Omaha classic Reuben. I’m a Reuben fan and wasn’t impressed by the other Omaha restaurant that claimed to have the original. The Blackstone hotel truly has the best in town or anywhere for that matter. This was one of my favorite dining experiences, and we go out a lot. I have given quite a few five-star reviews but this one is hands down in the top 1 percent. I need to go back!

Wonderful experience. I had the afternoon tea, lobster deviled eggs, & the clubber. It was all amazing! Afternoon Tea was a little lite in the savory assortment. Also, it is a preset menu. You cannot order what you like. Just an FYI. Other than that amazing experience! When you go in… ask to be seated in Lance’s section! He was the server! Would go back just for him!

I had the Ruben and truffle fries. The Ruben was awful. It tasted more like pot roast then corn beef. Super chewy, but the truffle flies were some of the best I’ve ever had. Disappointing, because the venue was awesome. The staff was phenomenal. It was also really pricey with tip it was $70 for two people. I feel like that is a lot for two Ruben, sandwiches, and fries.

When in Omaha, be sure to have at least one breakfast/brunch at The Orleans Room in the Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel (and definitely stay in the hotel if you are able – it’s amazing!). The Orleans Room (actually the whole hotel) has a gorgeous old-school vibe with excellent service. The menu is unique, but with plenty of traditional favorites. Two of our faves are the shakshuka, and the Reuben Benedict. We’ve been multiple times and have probably tried the entire menu / highly recommended!

Went to afternoon tea, the 2 :00 PM service and it was underwhelming.
Too many sweet things and not enough savory. You could tell everything was pre-made, not fresh as everything was identical. The savory items were just bland and the sweet things were manufactured pastries I could get at a box store. Nothing was really wrong with them, just not the kind of High Tea cakes I would serve. They should be delicate, beautifully presented, this was just plopped on the tier plate with no thought.
You could choose 4 of the 5 teas on the menu but they were out of 2 and had a replacement though so you were able to try all 4.
We had a table of 6 and only one set of utensils (tongs and spreading knife) we asked for more.
The waitress poor dear, she was alone working the room which was packed.
It was overall disappointing, nothing to make it an experience I’d go back for.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Prompt service. Beautiful restaurant.
Ordered the lobster deviled eggs – those were alright.
Specifically came to try the Reuben sandwich – delicious! Overall is was flavorful and the meat was tender. The fries with the sandwich were also good: well seasoned, crispy and still warm when served.

It’s in the Cottonwood hotel, very classy place. The design is elegant and the food was absolutely *chef’s kiss* absolutely perfect. I ordered a sweet corn soup and my friend ordered a turkey avocado club & also a cafe-tini which is like an espresso martini. It was lunchtime when we went. We got to choose our seating and chose a spot by the window with a nice little view outside. The Staff was polite and our orders came out quickly.

The Orleans Room is open to the public seven days a week. They have breakfast in one area (the brightly lit cafe photos) and dinner in the dining area.
I had an amazing birthday dinner there this week. I eat vegetarian and there were plenty of plant based options. Service was great. Staff was so accommodating and helpful.
There’s new management so definitely give this place a try and ignore old reviews. It’s definitely an elevated experience now.

If you’re going to have a Reuben in Omaha, this is the place to do it. My husband is a Reuben connoisseur, living in Omaha his whole life he’s tried them all with the exception of the Reuben from the Orleans Room until very recently. He was cautiously optimistic to try it, after all the photos look amazing, but the nearby Crescent Moon Reuben is very hard to beat! (Previous Reuben favorite, and still a very close second).
It absolutely lived up to the hype. He prefers a thick cut on the meat, which there was plenty of! His biggest critique was that you can only get it at lunch… Which is why it’s taken him so long to try it. If you love a good Reuben, definitely worth taking a long lunch to enjoy it!
