Social Profile:

In 1952, Steve Bicos opened a restaurant where he could cook and make the kind of food people want to eat every day: craveable, comforting, approachable, and made from scratch. In short, Quality Grub. He hired a few strong hands and friendly faces, and created a warm space where everyone knew they were going to get a good meal. Tops went from an old-school coffee shop to a bustling walk-up window, to a fast food mainstay of Pasadena, keeping its warmth and deliciousness at every step.Today, Steve’s sons, Chris and John, still run the family business, and our secret recipes are still used in the kitchen every day! Our menu has something for everyone, so take your time and stay a while in a cozy booth. We look forward to serving you!

Circa-1952 quick-serve American for burgers, hot dogs & breakfast in fast-food digs with drive-thru.

It’s a small and quaint diner. Full breakfast menu, burgers, the likes of a traditional diner. Got a 1/4lb cheeseburger with fries. The small sized fries is pretty large, totally shareable. The burger was alright. I liked the crispy edges of the bun and the crispness of the lettuce. The patty itself was a little bland. The price is fair. The line for the drive-thru was constant, easier to park and walk in there. Wouldn’t say it’s the best burger ever, but it’s pretty good for the price!

Stopped in here hungry and a bit exhausted from the Arboretum and it really hit the spot. I got the garden burger and it was mostly good, the patty was a little dry but it had a lot of tasty sauce to balance it out. I also got a small sweet potato fry and it was a LOT of fries! I could have definitely shared instead of getting my own. The atmosphere was pretty much the classic diner experience, which isn’t bad but not necessarily my cup of tea.

Wow, so glad I found this place. First timer here, tried the pastrami with onion rings because… why not? Those onion rings are magical! Crispy and delicious! The pastrami was packed full of meat but so much flavor in the combination of bread and meat. Couldn’t finish it, kinda felt like a failure but everyone has off days.

One of the better breakfast burritos I have had. The tortilla doesn’t stand out but is decent. Plenty of cheese and you can see the different kinds in the burrito, the cheese stands out compared to other restaurants. The hash browns are tasty but again don’t stand out, at least the hash doesn’t dominate the burito. The eggs are decent, don’t stand out, good amount. The steak was tasty, fair amount, a little more would be nice but better amount than you get from other restaurants. Would definitely order a breakfast burrito again. Probably get the three meat instead. Restaurant is relatively close to the freeway and easy to get in or out. At 730 in the morning on a sunday there is a line to order so there is a following. They serve their whole menu even at breakfast time. I would like to try more of their menu down the road. Customer service was great, very friendly. The ac was blasting and felt great. Not a huge amount of seating but enough.

Soooo good. But definitely cannot be eating this everyday. Chili cheese dog is smothered in chili and cheese, same goes with the large fries. Good portions. Pastrami sandwich was very meaty. I love it.

Delicious and fresh. Large portions. The small fries is enough to share. Besides soda, there wasn’t any other type of drink to select that I liked.

Food was really good but very salty so if your salt intake needs to be limited I wouldn’t eat here. The Pistachio water is soooooo GOOD!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! The tortillas at this place are really thick so a heads up on that.

Pictured is the Sycamore melt, a pastrami sandwich. The flavor was great, but the bread was so soggy I couldn’t hold it in my hands because it fell apart immediately when I went to pick it up, and thus this glorious sandwich was eaten with a fork and knife. The sandwich, small fries, and drink together were satisfying, but probably able to be split by two people because the food is so heavy. I would be interested in going back to try their breakfast.

Stopped here for dinner after a nice walk at the Arboretum. First time here so I had to try the pastrami sandwich. It was good. My wife had the cheese burger and daughter had some hard shell tacos. We all agreed it’s the quality of the ingredients that make this place pretty good. If I ever come back would love to try The Reuben.
