First time in – came for a daddy/daughter pizza date and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Our waitress was incredibly friendly (my daughter said she was her “favorite pizza person ever”) and the pizza was much better than most of the local spots we’ve tried (and trust me we’ve tried A LOT)! The restaurant also had that perfect old time charm that reminded me of the lunch spots I used to go out to with my parents and grandparents when I was a kid.
We’ll definitely be back – hopefully with the rest of our family next time.

I grew up in Broomall, Pa., and my family and I have been going to the Thunderbird for over 50 years. Hands down, they’ve got the best cheesesteaks in Delaware County and maybe the world. Their pizza and fries are pretty awesome, too. My compliments to the Greco family for maintaining their high standards of quality and service through four generations and beyond!

So when you go to Thunderbird for the first time you realize you’re not just getting a cheesesteak. You’re getting a culinary masterpiece, a work of art, a sandwich so outstanding it should have its own zip code. You’ll leave with the unwavering belief that some things in this world are simply perfect.

Nice classic diner feel, everything was tasty but everything was a bit salty. We were also under the impression that the Pan pizzas were deep dish but they were not. Server was nice and attentive.

We had an excellent lunch experience here on our first visit to The Original Thunderbird. Service is excellent, the good is fresh and tasty (salads), and the ambiance is a really cool blend of 1950s to present day.

Forget Genos, Pats, and Jims – if you want one of Philly’s and delco’s best cheesesteaks, this is the place to go. Service is always quick and respectful and the place has that awesome authentic old-fashioned feel that only a long-time local legend can give. I hope to see this business continue to succeed for many more years.

Right down the street from the Nicholas Smith train and hobby store, we stopped here for lunch. I had a cheese steak hoagie and my husband had a tuna salad sandwich and we shared an order of french fries. The food was great! The food wasn’t overly seasoned and it was served hot and the portions were more than generous. Karen, our server, was very nice. Looking forward to a return visit.

The Original Thunderbird Steakhouse has been running family owned and operated since 1956 and is known as the “go-to” for cheese steaks in Philadelphia.
I’ve been waiting years to come here and wasn’t disappointed.
Our waitress Gail was delightful. She was quick to serve our iced tea drinks (this is also a must) and then the cheese steaks arrived. A squeeze of mustard and ketchup in the middle and then BOOM! Tastebuds are alive. The texture of the sirloin meat with the cheese and soft bun takes what could be seen as just a steak roll to a culinary treat beyond belief.
And to back this up, they were the 2022 winners of the best Cheese Streak by Main Line Today Magazine. Says it all.
But what else can you have? Plenty. Pizza. Hoagies. Burgers. Calzone and more. Lots of choices and if you’d like to have that event of yours catered for – check them out.
The staff are fabulous, friendly and keep those cheese steaks pumping out to diners. Well done team. Love to know how many you make in a day.
You can dine in or take away. If you have dietary requirements please check with the staff. Seating is in booths, so plenty of room for a family. Toilets available.
Prices are very reasonable and one cheese steak will keep you going all day.
Gotta get back here before we leave for New York.

Been coming here over the years, I live in Florida. Each time I’ve come it’s been consistent. This time I get the cheese wiz with onion.

Had a light breakfast, just eggs…since I was having a procedure later in the afternoon. I was charged for my coffee and an entire platter. I told the waitress all I had was the coffee and three eggs, no toast and no potatoes. She refused to just charge me for 3 eggs. She insisted to charge me for a full platter that included 2 items I never put in my mouth, the potatoes and toast. Went home and our dinner turned into a finance lesson over their billing receipt. Also reminds me to tell everyone how important it is to check your bill when dining out. Will never step foot in this place again. Bad principle. Bad business. Now I know why they never supported our local little league team fundraising events.
After reading the owners feedback, I was not charged $3.99 for the three eggs! I did not go during your breakfast special…I was charged 6.99 for three eggs and 2.99 for the coffee.
