Lovely brunch visit today. Ordered coffee and juice, omelettes and pancakes on the side! The service was warm and friendly; and they leave a hot carafe of coffee on the table for you with your order. Delicious Marion-berry syrup! Their large pancake plates mostly go for $18.95 and their omelets that come with either personal size pancakes or crispy potatoes mostly go for $22.95. Lots of hot sauce options, juice and flavors of syrups as well 🙂

My wife and I are OPH fans and used to go to the one in Eugene, especially when our kids were little. We have great memories and consistently had good experiences there. We were a little surprised and disappointed that the Salem location couldn’t quite pull it off.
The good: We were seated right away and offered drinks that came very quickly. The server took our food order quickly as well: my wife got the 49er flapjacks (her favorite) and I got a plain waffle and a side of bacon. The bacon turned out to be excellent, but it was the best part of the meal, unfortunately…
The bad: My wife’s Orange Juice tasted fresh squeezed but had so much pulp that you could practically stand a fork in it. The coffee is dark roast, so if that’s your thing, go for it. Mine tasted burnt. My wife’s 49er flapjacks were pale. They tasted fine, but they were essentially a stack of crepes. My waffle? . . .
The ugly: My waffle never came at all. The server, who was polite and professional, brought out my wife’s food and stated that the waffle was taking longer. My wife ate half of her 49er crepes, I ate a quarter, and we asked the server to take the waffle off and bring our check, which she did quickly (and apologetically). As nice as she was, that’s about all she did well. We were never checked on, so she never saw that I hadn’t gotten my food, nor was I offered more coffee (bad as it was). While there was a larger party near us, it wasn’t huge and the restaurant wasn’t that busy, so I can’t account for why she missed this.
Swing and a miss, Salem OPH! I guess I’ll have to see if the one in Eugene has gone similarly down hill over the years. Not in a hurry to find out, sadly.

The Original Pancake House is a charming, cozy breakfast restaurant. Endless coffee for 4 bucks. I had a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy and the Eggs Benedict. Both were very good.
It’s a bit spendy, but the service was great and I took home leftovers.

The food and service here is outstanding! Ordered the corned beef hash and my friend got the eggs Benedict and we were both so pleased! The strawberry syrup for the pancakes was amazing and I would 10/10 recommend.
Our waitress was so friendly and attentive and brought us strawberries and whipped cream on our pancakes as well which was the perfect addition. It was so good we didn’t even have any leftovers.
Will be coming back!

The Apple Pancake is excellent but HUGE. Pro tip: order it as you’re being seated because it takes longer to prepare than their other dishes.

Yum! Menu has so many options! There’s something for everyone. I had never been here before. It has a homey feel and reminds me of grandma’s house. I went with a large group and seating was comfortable and everyone enjoyed their meal. Definitely will be back for breakfast!

Got the cornedbeef with Eggs. I have had better, a little dry. The bacon, wow! $10 for 4 pieces, thick and very good. Eggs Benedict was very good. Great service!

I stopped in for lunch on Sunday. When I looked at the menu and prices I was not impressed. The omelet I wanted only came with pancakes. The omelet was only ham and cheese. I wondered where the veggies were. I had already been seated and had my drink so I took a chance on it. I am so glad I did. The pancakes might be the best I’ve ever had. The omelet kicked all my other favorites out of the water. I will definitely be going back and taking my whole family with me. I’m salivating just thinking of it now. Also, the server was so nice and my food came quickly. Well worth the price.
