Brian McDermott had a passion for working in restaurants and The Original Pancake House was a perfect fit. After years of experience in the industry, he realized he wanted an Original Pancake House of his own. In 1986, Brian McDermott brought the breakfast franchise to Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of the items listed on our Kid’s Menu reference the historic train station. Since 1996, The Original Pancake House in Indianapolis has been closed, but Brian and his family have worked hard to keep their locations (Indianapolis, Fishers and Noblesville) running smoothly. His wife Charlene, daughter Colleen and son Andrew are devoted to keeping The Original Pancake House a part of Indianapolis’s history and your favorite breakfast restaurant!
Signature pancakes & other American breakfast classics all day in a casual setting.

The booth we were seated at was fine except that the sun was streaming in – hot and blinding. I had to stand on the bench to reach the pulleys but they didn’t close the blinds. The other set of pulleys were at the table next to us where there were people eating and we didn’t want to disturb them. When those folks left, we asked a waitress to close them, she didn’t know how, had to go through several waitresses until someone knew what to do (how to close them).
The food was good. I had the veggie eggs Benedict with potatoes and pancakes. My husband had biscuits and gravy. The pancakes or syrup had an interesting flavor we couldn’t put our finger on.
The food here was amazing! I ordered the Apple Pancake, which was cooked perfectly with a rich cinnamon flavor and soft texture. I would’ve preferred a little more crisp on the edges for contrast, but it was still delicious and full of flavor.
The fresh bacon completely made up for it—some of the best I’ve had in a long time. It was thick, crispy, and cooked just right. The breakfast burrito was great too, and the potatoes on the side were seasoned and cooked perfectly.
The staff were friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Overall, this is a great spot for a quality breakfast in the Indy- Noblesville area. Highly recommend checking it out!
Seating and ordering went just fine! The building is starting to run down, glass panes at the top, most were completely cracked (above customer seating!)
When food arrived, both mine and my wife’s potatoes were ice cold. It took forever to get waitresses attention to get new ones , not because it was busy , but because they were always away from the tables and hanging around behind counter area , not checking on how food was after given to us. When we finally told them about the potatoes, they were replaced extremely fast , but then 50-60% of the new potatoes were not even cooked, hot but not cooked through.
Service , as stated, was friendly, but lacking especially for paying over $50 for 2 people….
It was a very nice and quiet place. Even though the restaurant was quite busy, it did not take long at all to get our food. I ordered the strawberry pancakes, eggs, and chicken sausage, and everything was served good and hot.
Food and atmosphere are always great! But the service quality seems to have declined.
Hopefully, next visit will be different.
