Long-standing Mexican restaurant known for its handmade tortillas, which are sold in grocery stores.

This is definitely a place to go to for Mexican food. We came here specifically for Mexican breakfast and were not disappointed. I had the mother’s special which is steak, grilled cilantro, onion, jalapeno, green chili strips, two eggs, beans, potatoes and flour tortillas. My friend had the Nana special Christmas style (green and red pork chili), two eggs, beans, flour, tortillas and potatoes. Everything was fantastic. This service was awesome. I don’t normally like order first and then go find your seat, but it was no problem here. Know what you want before you get here though because there is so much goodness on the menu. An absolute hidden gem in Phoenix.

I’ve been wanting to try the original for years. Well, I finally did, and it was totally worth the wait. We had breakfast. I had the nana’s special with red and green chili, potatoes, and beans. The atmosphere was great, the service was great, and the food was excellent. If you are down south, it’s a must try. Overall, 4.5 stars

I used to grab food from here weekly but the quality and service has declined over the past 2 years. Don’t bother ordering online. It won’t be ready at the time you are supposed to pick it up. They start making it when you arrive. I ordered ahead because I’m at work and have limited time and I had to wait an additional 15 minutes. I ordered a cheese crisp. It was more like a soggy tough tortilla with half melted cheese. The cooks rush making the food and kinda just slop it together. The salsa has literal whole canned tomatoes in them so you think you are getting salsa but really you are just getting a couple huge chunks of tomato in a 4oz cup. I used to love this place but I guess I’ll just grab food from somewhere else. Not worth the time or money.

One of the best customer service Ive had in a long time, the order was running late so the owner gave us free drinks and made us small samples of their best burrito. Had a great attitude and treated his customers with kindness. Food is delicious and you’re treated like family. If you’re in the area I highly recommend them.

I dislike the ordering process. Takes a little away from the experience. Not sure if they were short handed all the tables were dirty, all expect 2 in the back. Besides that the food is amazing!! The red and green Chile is the best!
Also the bathroom didn’t flush and they had no paper towels.

When you arrive, you order and pay at the counter and then walk to the dining room to be seated. I thought this was odd, but now I get it. I should have walked out the second they handed me tortilla chips in a tiny paper bag—like a disappointing consolation prize for showing up, but against my better judgment, I stayed.
After being seated I quickly realized the busiest chef in the kitchen was the microwave. That thing was running so hard at one point, I swear I heard it sigh from exhaustion.
Adding to the ambiance, a Costco sized bag of Spanish rice sat proudly on the counter, just waiting for its moment microwave’s endless cycle of despair. And then came the grand finale: Watching the cook go full lumberjack on a frozen brick of dough. A few hammer strikes later that sad, lifeless disc became my sopapilla. Sad- just sad! We ordered a green chili sopapilla, bean and cheese (beans tasted canned), and a green corn tamale. Unfortunately nothing tasted fresh. We took a couple bites and left – it was a sad ride home. We were both highly disappointed.
People go to restaurants to have a meal COOKED for them. I could have saved myself $50, stayed home, and nuked a gas station burrito.
Gordon Ramsay, if you’re out there, please bring your film crew and an exorcist for that microwave.

Always came here as a child, never had problems, this place is to crap now. Ridiculous prices, rude employees, and not loyal to their customers. We asked for salsa , they insisted I had to pay for it. However per the receipt the employee put we don’t want hot sauce and charged us instead. Plus they messed up our order. Furthermore the employee was working in the back with sandals on!

You can never go wrong with old school Mexican food! Once you order at the window, find yourself a seat, Mexican tiles, beautiful paintings, like your Nana’s house! Soon, someone from the kitchen will be bringing you your hot food, careful your plate is hot! I ordered coffee & they have a pot on a burner with utensils, napkins & creamer! P.S. don’t be surprised if you see your favorite “Aunty’ or even “Nana” in the kitchen on the way out! Enjoy!!

Food quality and taste had significantly decreased. Red chile burrito was my go too. Just had dinner there and seems as they no longer have restaurant service. You need to order and pay now before you get your meal. Oh, and you have ho grab your own utensils. Not what I remember service being like. Sadly, I would not recommend it
