I got the beef fajita kolache and it was great. The beer was soft, flavorful and hot and the overall kolache was great. I can’t say the same of the pastrami and cheese unfortunately. The pastrami just felt and tasted like a rolled up warm roast beef that didn’t have much flavor from the brine/cure. The coffee was decent and the staff was very nice. There is seating outside but it can get loud and it’s next to a major road.

The Original Kolache Shoppe delivers every time. Fresh dough with real flavor. Fillings packed with meat, cheese, and fruit that taste like they were made that morning. The lobby gets tight during busy hours and the line moves slow, yet people stay because the food earns it.

The sausage and cheese kolaches hold their heat and texture. The sweet options stay balanced without being heavy. The bread has a light pull with no dryness. You feel the quality right away.

Staff works fast under pressure. Orders come out accurate. The vibe shows a spot that values doing things the right way.

This place sets the bar for kolaches in Houston. Worth the long wait and the crowded lobby because the result is strong every visit.

Their early morning opening time is super convenient!

The kolache are absolutely fantastic and worth trying out! They savory ones are very good and the dessert ones were a little less sweet than what I’m used to for pastries but I still enjoyed them.

The silent hero on the menu might be the pecan sand tarts though. Definitely try those if you visit.

The sausage ones (klobasnek) are unremarkable, but the beef fajita pastry is good. The fruit kolaches are impressive in size and flavor. However, the customer service is off-putting; the cashier was not nice and mentioned that the original owners rarely come by. If the service is lacking, it raises concerns about food quality. Honestly, I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit, especially since it’s in a rough area.

I had the beef fajita and sausage and cheese kolache. Literally the best kolache I’ve ever had. The beef fajita was fave be sure to give that one a try for sure!

Parking was tough as the place is pretty busy and there are limited spaces.

I also ordered an iced Carmel latte which was pretty good.

The Staff was friendly

Visited for the first time on Friday 8/29/25 @7:30am. We ordered a couple croissants, a kolache and a few other items along with some coffee. The pastries were excellent. The coffee was terrible. The lady making the drinks that day seemed like she didn’t want to be there and you could tell by the drinks she was making because the drinks we received were trash. If you’re visiting, stick to the pastries because that’s what this place is known for. As for the coffee, you can get better coffee across the street at McDonald’s. Anyhow, I’ll definitely be back for the food.

Service was 50/50 (interacted with 4 people, all were nice but 1. And the one kind of out shined the good. )

Food was good, turnovers are delish.

Coffee good.

Definitely on the more expensive side.

Ill give it another try, and try to avoid the older impatient grumpy lady.

The staff, food, coffee are all amazon here!

Be prepared to stand in line on a busy day, but it’s worth it. If it’s packed, wait it out. These are the best dang kolaches in the city.

The parking lot can be tough on weekend but it’s with it if you can find a good spot or street parking. I don’t recommend parking at the nearby hotel, but street parking is free.
