We tried this place for a local restaurant while traveling. The food was good but the decor and the cleanliness overshadowed it. There were fruit flies all over. The walls and floors had old food, dirt and grease – looked like they had not been cleaned in over a year. There are only about 4 tables which seat 3.

First time eating here, had late lunch. Atmosphere was good. We were greeted by friendly staff and waited for our order. We ordered Lamb beef kabab. The serving was in good proportion. Food was freshly cooked and warmly served. Staff gave an extra plate to share. It is child friendly. Lots of parking all around the food strip. There was no line to order food.

One of the best places in Oceanside to eat at! The food tastes fresh and flavorful. My favorite is the Chicken Pita Sandwich but everything scores above 100! Very friendly service. Dine In. Take Out. Catering Trays. The owner goes above and beyond for his business/staff/customers which is another reason this restaurant is worth eating at!

This was incredibly good, a bit on the pricey side but given the size of the meal it is worth it. I will definitely be back here. Since it was my first time I asked the worker what he recommended and he helped me decide very quickly and was also really nice. The service was quick maybe about 3-5 minutes to receive my food.

I absolutely LOVE this place. The service is great and they do the best to understand you. The amount of food I got for the price was also very affordable considering it’s Oceanside and I would also dare to say it’s probably one of the healthiest options you can get around here. The Original Kebab is Oceanside’s premier Mediterranean food spot that has a great selection kebabs, shawarma, gyros, salads and more!
Located right on N Coast Hwy, this new establishment is small family-owned and the owner has been mastering his recipes for over 20 years.
Although they are clean inside, because the interior is rather small and basic, this is not the best place to bring groups to sit down and eat.
There’s a counter to order and then a crammed space for small tables with limited seating options.
Also, there isn’t any interior decor or ambiance that resonates to the cultural essence of the food.
Lastly, there’s no dedicated parking lot, so you’ll have to rely on street parking.
Where The Original Kebab shines is their friendly & gracious customer service and the quality of their food.
Their portions are fair and although their pricing may seem on the higher side, they are a standard for a small business trying to survive in Downtown Oceanside and more importantly, the food portions are worth it.
After sitting in for a few hours, I witnessed the few people that ate inside having complimented the staff on having the best gyro meat they’ve ever had.
Each portion is sizeable and they even seem to be popular for their gyro wraps or sandwiches (I witnessed many do take-out orders).
Overall, I loved the gyro plate that I had and the cucumbers with the rice and gyro meat was tasty.
I look forward to trying more from this small business and I think that The Original Kebab is a great addition to the Downtown Oceanside Food scene!

The food here is incredible! The recipes are passed down and are undeniably delicious. 1 bite and you’ll see for yourself. Everything is fresh and made in-house. The owner definitely takes pride in cooking. If you’re in Oceanside…this place is a must!!

The food was absolutely delicious, we had the beef kabob plate with rice and salad. It’s always hard to find good kabob, but this did not disappoint. Next time we visit Oceanside we will eat here again. I want to try the chicken shawarma it looked so inviting.

It was delicious. I enjoyed my plate. The beef/ chicken/falafel has great flavor, rice has great flavor, the salad on the side brings a good freshness to the plate, love the tzatziki very good flavor. The pita bread on the side is good I would maybe brush it lightly with like garlic oil because it gets hard real quick and doesn’t have much of any flavor. Over all very nice. (There’s only 2 little tables inside, more for takeout.. maybe put the tables outside in front might be better)
