What a gem of a restaurant. The Opera House located in Brookville is well worth the drive. The food was top notch along with the service. If you happen to be passing by or live close by then this is a must stop. They do have limited business hours so check ahead.

It was a wonderful surprise to find this restaurant in a small town that we were just passing through. Beautiful decor, tasteful music, attentive waitress and owner, very clean and I would say upscale. It is categorized as a bistro but I think it’s a mistake; more like fine dining, especially considering the type of dishes, presentation and prices.

The food was delicious and even though the waitress kept coming back to tell us that they didnt have certain ingredients, we were left satisfied. My two girls loved playing with the 5-6 different kinds of silverware and creatively folded napkins. I would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion. Quality, healthy food is difficult to come by in this area.

Great place! Very delicious flavor combinations, and the service was very attentive. The scallops were amazing, and my husband loved his steak. Came here twice (so far) during our vacation and will definitely be back here whenever I return to the area.

This is a great place. I recommend it for lunch, dinner, and even just to get a coffee and relax. It has great decor and an inviting vibe. The food is fabulous. Chef Jon knows what he’s doing, and consistently offers delicious renditions of of classic dishes plus less common and more interesting dishes that you can’t find anywhere else in the area. He and his staff are also very friendly and helpful, and do a great job making you feel welcome and taken care of. Finally, the value is ridiculous… the specials ($5 lunch every weekday, $8 8oz steak night, etc.) can’t be beaten and even the normal meals would be twice as expensive or more in Pittsburgh (or any city). You should absolutely go to Opera House Cafe!!!

My wife and I ate here last week, during opening night dinner under new ownership. I had the Dry Aged Strip and she had the crab cakes. Both of us were blown-away. I had never ordered a dry aged cut of meat before, but it was thick cut, juicy, and had fuller flavor than regular steak; the crab cakes had far more meat than expected, and were still crispy. These dishes were somewhat pricier, but they were well worth it.

We had the opportunity to meet the new owners, and they were very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. It was quiet when we were there, but with regular hours and quality food, things will be picking up soon, i’m sure. Will definitely be our new spot!

Never been to Brookville before and thought this was such a lovely little place tucked in the middle of nowhere. My boyfriend had the scallops and I had the crab cakes. Top notch. Great wine and beer selection as well. Owner came by and chatted which was a nice gesture. Reason for 4 and not 5? It took quite a while for us to get our meals and our salads came with the meal instead of before. I don’t even like scallops or mushrooms and that dish was amazing. Will definitely try again when we visit my boyfriend’s parents.

We were passing through Brookville on Monday evening and stopped for dinner, pleased to find something that looked like fine dining open on Monday. The food was excellent (we had the salmon and the Guinness Beef Pot Pie), the portions were generous, the service was great, and the environment attractive. The raspberry torte dessert was tasty but not too rich. We will certainly go out of our way to return here when we are in the area again.

We’ve not been to this restaurant before today, Oct 15, 2018. Stopped for lunch. Restaurant was 1/2 full and we sat at the counter. The one waitress working, was busy at her computer and told us she’d be with us soon. After we did order, our food took a long time to come out. No silverware/napkins were offered until we asked. The french fries were hardly warm. The waitress brought us another order of hot fries after we told her ours were not warm. Then we realized the sandwich appeared to also have sat around in the kitchen before being brought to us. While the french fries are fresh cut, we found them way too big and therefore they took a long time to cook. The 2nd batch came after we’d finished our sandwich. Can’t say we were impressed with this place. Having read the other reviews maybe we may have had a lousy experience, overall. Will try again, perhaps, another time. Too bad, though.
