Went here tonight with my daughter for the first time by recommendations from other people. We both enjoyed it, food was excellent along with the service. Very pretty lit up building. Definitely worth visiting again. I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf and my daughter had fish and chips. So much more on the menu to try out.

I had such a great experience at The Olympic Tavern! The atmosphere is warm and lively but still comfortable enough to actually enjoy your conversation. It has that classic tavern feel with a modern touch.

The food was amazing — everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The portions were generous, and you can tell they care about quality. They also have a great drink and beer selection, so it’s a perfect spot whether you’re going for dinner, drinks, or both.

The service really stood out to me too. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. You can tell why this place has been a Rockford favorite for so long.

Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to!

I did not try the food on this occasion.
Service was excellent, personable, down to earth and friendly. Very chill vibe. Featured local art and historical pictures of Rockford. Purse hooks and outlets under the bar, impeccable restrooms, and a great rotation of beers on tap.
As a food service worker I loved that below the list of tap beers they also listed the date of the last tap/line cleaning.
Clean and quality, chill vibe, slightly bougie.

It’s our anniversary and we wanted to try a new-to-us restaurant, so we chose The Olympic Tavern. We both ordered rib eye steak with shrimp. It was delicious!

The garlic mashed potatoes did not taste very garlicky, but the potatoes were still very good. As were the seasonal veggies. Dessert was a flourless chocolate torte – fabulous!

Everyone we met was very friendly and the service was good. My only regret is that I did not request a nicer table. We spent our anniversary dinner sitting at a cafe table that was lined-up along a bench shared with multiple people. Not my favorite part of the evening.

➡️Part Two – Summertime Visit:
This time we were seated on the patio and it was lovely! They have worked hard to create a beautiful outdoor space, and we enjoyed the evening weather and atmosphere. I tried the Brussel Sprout appetizer (delicious), and my husband had the fish and chips (really good as well). Our waitress was very loud spoken, but super sweet and helpful.

If you haven’t been to this Rockford landmark yet, don’t hesitate!

We went with a group of us and sat at the bar. The host and bartender were both very friendly. Great craft beer selection. Best apps; the cheese curds and nachos. I had the Reuben and it was delicious; so much corned beef!
Fun bar decor and also great to-go beer options.

Seated right in a hallway/corridor area where all the waitresses, customers, managers, and bartender kept walking back and forth all the time. Not a great first-time dining experience! I thought the mexican soup was great. They bumbled the appetizer by bringing out a similar entree, but didn’t charge us…noticed the “sometimes we screw up” on the bar’s chalkboard. Well, fine, but I don’t think screwing up should be a virtue. The pulled pork was greasy and not edible. Was soggy too. Looked great, but don’t care how it looks all that much. My sister had the scallops. Expensive IMO $$$$ 36 for that.

It was our first visit to the Olympic Tavern, and we had high hopes. The restaurant was nice inside and out. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food fell flat in our opinion. The pretzel appetizer was ok, the mustard was more sweet than we expected. The pig candy was good, and the maple whiskey glaze was tatsy. The ribs were good, and so were the fries. The quattro mac n cheese was dry and lacked that cheesey flavor. The fish and chips were greasy and not crisp. The cod wasn’t bad it was the batter and lack of salt. I feel that for the prices the food should be better. The atmosphere and service met the pricing, and the food did not.

If you’re searching for a standout dining experience in Rockford that seamlessly blends a lively bar scene, unforgettable entrées, and a burger that raises the bar, look no further than the Olympic Tavern. Nestled on the west side of Rockford, this iconic spot exudes a warm, welcoming atmosphere that’s truly unmatched.

On my visit, I indulged in the bison burger, and let me tell you—it was phenomenal. The burger was cooked to perfection and packed with bold flavors, complemented by the tangy richness of blue cheese. If blue cheese isn’t your thing, don’t worry—they’re happy to serve it on the side or go light on it.

But the real star of the night? The pig candy appetizer. This sweet, smoky, and downright addictive treat had us hooked from the first bite. It was the perfect blend of crispy, savory goodness, and it’s a must-try for anyone stepping through their doors.

Whether you’re a foodie, a burger enthusiast, or someone just looking for an inviting spot to unwind, the Olympic Tavern delivers on all fronts. Don’t miss out!

I hadn’t been there in years , and I really liked the atmosphere of different areas of seating options. There were 5 of us and we had a raised area that set us apart from the crowd, yet still in the room. They, also have Outside seating for warm weather. The fish and homemade mashed potatoes were great!
