Growing up in multiple Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries this is a type of cuisine I am quite familiar with. I wanted to love you. Olive Branch is a small, family owned restaurant that arguably has the best sign in the county. But that was where the wow factor ended for me. We got two dinner meals (beef kufta and kabob), hummus, fries and fattoush for $73 with tip and carry out. SO dang salty. And I am a salt person. Seemingly smaller portions than you might get in the restaurant. Beef “kabob” was in tiny chunks, tough and again, almost inedibly salty and not worth $22 IMO. Hummus is curious, I didn’t mind the heavy addition of chopped parsley but it was super oily and bitter. Fattoush was fresh and plentiful, just know that it’s pre-dressed with a sweeter dressing and at least 1/3 to 1/2 pita chips. Pita bread was fluffy and fries were good. I wouldn’t come again. I get that it can be hard starting out but you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. We are fortunate enough to live in an area that has plentiful food options within a half an hour drive. In the past few weeks we’ve had Turkish and Lebanese food that were excellent and less expensive. After all that, two adults and two kids are still hungry.

So good. I was delivery driving on a cold night and came in to the most amazing smells, so I had to order some labneh to go while I waited. The labneh, the amazing olive oil and za’atar on top, and the taboon (bread) were all better than similar places charging twice as much in Dearborn. I’m so grateful to have these amazing people serving such excellent food in such a nice, clean, welcoming spot right here in Ypsi. Top shelf experience, guys. Thank you for making my whole week with such good food and vibes.

I came from New York to buy a car with some friends and we asked the salesman where the best place to get food was and he recommended this place to us. The food was delicious , the service was amazing, and the place was clean and comfortable. We asked the server for recommendations and he pointed us in the all the right directions. The lebnah was an absolute must try. Personally not a big fan of hummus, but that was some of the best I’ve tried. The shawarma is something i was always super excited to try and never got to before out of fear of being disappointed. And let me tell you. it did not disappoint. We got so much food(just to try) that we can barely finish it. Highly recommend. Amazing food. And the service is very admirable. Me and my friends drove 10 hours back to NYC, and we mentioned how good the food was maybe 20 times. And then another 10 times when we had cold leftovers . 11/10 i recommend this place to anyone. If you are just trying Palestinian food, this is a very warm welcome into the culture. However, what complements the food more than anything that can come out that little kitchen is the service. The young gentleman that served us was so respectful, welcoming, easy to talk to and joke around with. I cannot emphasize enough the type of warm experience we had in there. Thank you so much for the beautiful, delicious food and kind service ! I woke up next day feeling the need to update this review and make sure it was properly detailed. That is how much I liked this food

Ok I’ve been here three or four times now though not for dinner … only breakfast and lunch..and my unvarnished feedback is the following:
First time was excellent- the place was hopping and they offered us small complimentary lebni and pita chips while we waited for orders. Those have since disappeared and I don’t know why. It was brilliant. Bring it back please!
The food is delicious delicious delicious… and the service is consistently good and genuinely interested in making the experience hospitable.
Second, third, and fourth visits.. food is still good, service is spotty and hit or miss in that servers are super kind but some know exactly what to do and others seem to be a bit lost.
The place is also empty. What happened? Makes me so sad that people aren’t coming. People don’t know what they’re missing. This place is a gem in the rough.
A few suggestions:
Please make sure utensils are on the table in a napkin ready or hand them to customers with the menu… it’s a basic thing and not a high expectation for us customers to have.
Please please add a kids’ section of the menu for us parents who desperately want to come but our kids say no, because of no pancakes/waffles/french toast on the menu. We adults want the 3arabi breakfast and can happily live without the bankeyk and balawi but they want what they want.
Please add some sweet options to the menu.. some preserves, some debess and tahine, some halawet semsem, some dates, some honey and ashta… these are all traditional and do-able.
Please offer mugs for coffee and traditional 3arabi glass tea cups for shai.
Things I love:
How strong your coffee is. The bane of my existence is breakfast spots with watery coffee .
Your soundtrack. On point mostly and just the right volume, but please add more Falasteeni songs
Id be remiss not to mention a perfect example of TOB’s hospitality…I asked randomly if they could make pancakes for my kid who was grumbling. It wasn’t on the menu. They made it happen. They literally went to the store for pancake mix and prepared some to perfection. I’m sorry but that gets mad respect and some happy mom tears.
I’ll keep coming back. Ya3teekom alf 3afyeh! That’s Arabic for you rock.

I read the 5.0 star reviews and wanted to see the hype. I love falafel and shakshouka so that is what we tried. Delicious pita chips complimented with yogurt and olives for starters. The shakshuka was very complex and delicious. The falafels had great spice throughout the body of the falafel. I really enjoyed all the items we tried and even the coffee had a full body. Their olives are amazing and found out they make the blend with olive oil there.

I tried the shawarma, hummus, fries, and even the chicken tenders from the kids’ menu—and every single item was delicious. The shawarma was flavorful and perfectly cooked, the hummus was smooth and fresh, and the fries were hot and crispy. Even the kids’ chicken tenders stood out as being well-made and tasty, not an afterthought like at many places.
On top of the great food, the service was truly amazing. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the whole visit even better.
Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and outstanding service. I’ll definitely be back!

As someone who’s been lucky to have lived around Hamtramck and Dearborn, I never thought it would be worth it to find a new shawarma spot while at school here. Now as I get ready to move back to Detroit, I can’t believe that I’ll be so far from my new favorite restaurant. But the chicken shawarma is so good that I’ll still make the trip. I’d even do the drive for the olive oil that goes into the hummus.
Haven’t done takeout, but eating inside is a very warm and friendly experience 🙂

We went on a busy day and overall had a positive experience. As with many new restaurants it was a little bit chaotic but the owner and staff were very nice and the food was definitely solid and flavorful. I especially liked the chicken with hummus and the spicy potatoes. Recommended for sure.

AMAZING place! I have been going here regularly for the last four months for carryout and have tried a good amount of the menu. Let me tell ya, everything is incredible!! I have been to MANY Middle Eastern restaurants in Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor/Dearborn/Metro Detroit in my many years, and this one is near or at the top. I was finally able to try their grapes leaves (they regularly run out because of their popularity) and they are the best I’ve ever had. My other favorites are the cheese arayes and the spicy chicken shawarma sandwich. Also, don’t sleep on the fool and spicy Turkish salad! This will continue to be a regular stop for me 🙂
