Pub grub such as fish ‘n’ chips alongside British beers & single malts in a 1730s brick Colonial.

Olde English Pub in Albany is a true gem. We tried the onion soup, the chili, and the fish and chips — and every bite was fantastic. The food was the clear highlight, full of rich, comforting flavors and perfect for a cozy meal. The fish and chips were crispy and golden, the soup was deeply savory, and the chili had just the right kick. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the ambiance felt authentically British — warm, relaxed, and full of charm. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town. Five stars all the way.

We were celebrating a birthday and the staff was so nice as to not charge the birthday person’s beer. Besides that, great English decor vibe, food and drink selection. They are a two-story building and once you pass the bar section, you just wait till a server seats you. Fish and chips were so great with that English paper it’s served on. We also tried their fries with assorted dipping sauces, it was decent in portion and taste. Lastly, we tried their Kedgeree from the entrees. It was a huge portion with amazing flavors. Overall, it was a great bar with great food, staff and vibes.

The atmosphere is pure English pub right down to the low ceilings. Winston scowling down from above the fireplace. I had delicious fish and chips with malt vinegar. The waitress was possibly the most attentive I’ve ever had . Not overly intrusive but obviously observant of her tables and ready to fulfill any requests in a timely fashion and with a genuine and friendly smile. I ordered a sausage roll for later (pictured) the flaky pastry was sublime and the sausage just the right flavors that I remembered from my childhood cookery classes in my secondary modern 3rd year. A wonderful experience. Will definitely be back again. Maybe try the Kedgeree next

Anniversary lunch at The Olde English Pub
Have been wanting to try it for a while and watching the snow falling out our window made it seem like a perfect time. It was a little different when headed south and the snow turned to a drizzle and vanished completely from the landscape. Still, there was quite the wind whipping up Broadway so it was good to be somewhere warm.
The bar area was so beautifully decorated for the season (though I had to duck my head to avoid the ornaments) and the small dining area on the first floor with Christmas tree, fireplace and jolly Winston Churchill looking down on us was immediately cozy.
The sausage roll we had to start was so delicious. The sausage very flavorful and the pastry was flaky perfection. I had the pot pie of the day which was chicken and again there was a fantastic flaky crust over the rich, creamy chicken and veggies.
For dessert we had a slice of their carrot cake. It’s not made in-house but was still excellent, the cream cheese frosting was thick and rich.
Loved the food, the atmosphere and the history of the place. Will definitely be returning.

Absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I stopped in for a quick lunch and drinks this afternoon on our way home from Albany. This place feels as if you are walking straight into a neighborhood pub in England. The deco was spendid, the signs were the perfect blend of humor and “pay attention stupid”, and service was friendly and prompt and the food and drinks were delicious. I had a proper shepherd’s pie, and he had a wonderful pub salad. He was especially pleased with the beer selection, and my “bees knees” gin cocktail was one of the best I’ve ever had. BONUS: This place is within walking distance of the Palace Theater and easy parking. We will definitely be returning!

Loved this place. Great pub food. I had the French Onion Soup – which was very good, and Waldorf Salad, which was fresh and delicious. My friend had their fish and chips, she said it was super fresh – not fishy-tasting. Wine was nice, though they didn’t have the one I wanted. We ate outside and the weather was perfect. I’d love to go back at night, see about music and dinner menu. Very enjoyable staff, helpful and attentive, though not overly so.

We absolutely loved this place! We’re very new to Albany, so it was surprising that it was so close to the highway. But once you’re in there you forget all about the highway. The food was delicious: we got the chicken ceaser wrap and the fish and chips. Coleslaw that came with the fish and chips was the best I’ve had in a while. The staff was super super nice! Definitely would recommend to anyone wanting to experience a cozy little pub 🙂

French onion soup and Shepards pie (really cottage pie as they use ground beef) was excellent. However, the portions were disappointing. The shepards pie was in a small crock and needed to be about double the size for it to be worth the price. Service was great and cool place.

Food was delicious, their fish and chips were some of the best I’ve had. The atmosphere was very cozy and homely, it felt like a place I could sit with friends and talk for hours. The service was fantastic, and our waitress was very nice and attentive. Definitely coming back here sometime soon! 🙂

Wonderful food, drinks and atmosphere. Really feels like you are in a London pub. I’m partial to the fish & chips but the vegan wing appetizers are wonderful. Great drink selection including NA selection. Right across the street from the Palace if you are going to a show.
