A two star review is extremely rare for me and I’m not even sure this should be two stars! We’ve eaten at Whiskey Mill on several occasions and it’s always been mediocre at best. This time it dipped quite a bit below mediocre. I must say though, the hostess was perfect, she can have all two stars! She greeted us with a genuine smile, was friendly and sat us right away with a carafe of water but no cups, that was odd! The place was empty so not sure why it took forever for anybody to even acknowledge us but it worked to our advantage because we were able to order everything at once. The drinks came out first, as they should, but then the food came out right behind them, like 3-4 minutes later. That’s too quick to be made to order so not sure what’s going on in that kitchen! I got the prawns and risotto, big mistake! It was literally crunchy, like minute rice type crunchy half cooked rice! When I told our server he said yeah, he had complaints the day before about it! What? Why didn’t you tell me when I ordered it? The short rib reuben was on the dry side and definitely not freshly made but at least was a little warm. I suppose I should have stuck with the poutine, it used to be good, maybe it still is!

Great bar for food and drinks. We had the clams and they are tasty. If you’re looking for for whisky they do have some nice pours.

There were very few customers, yet it took them a very long time to come to the table. The drinks were high priced. The menu was extremely limited and incredibly overpriced. We each ordered the most inexpensive item on the menu, pulled pork macaroni and cheese. When it came there was less than an ounce of very fatty, flavorless pork on top of flavorless dry macaroni and cheese. We each had 2 drinks. The total bill was $125. I definitely would Not recommend this place.

My husband and I took a spur of the moment trip over to Port Townsend and tried out the old whiskey mill. Our server was fabulous and the food was fast and delicious! I had the northwest burger and it was perfect! The bourbon peach tea was a fantastic summer refresher too! We will definitely be back!

Woweee Zoweee (those are real words ).

Loved eating local while visiting Port Townsend and The Old Whiskey Mill does not disappoint.

After a long day searching for sea glass we were looking for something delicious and new to us. We did search menu’s online before leaving our hotel and chose “Whiskey Mill”.

There was no wait to sit at 6pm on a Tuesday night. Wait staff said not many other restaurants are open at that time, this time of year. Which made the lack of staff all the more challenging this particular night. We waited a really long time for our main course. I’m not sure if they had people call in or why there were so few working but I think they only had 3 people up front. It definitely required patience. I just got up and looked around at all the incredible old photos on the walls. The architecture and decor are a real treat.

For me, the wait was made manageable because the food was most delicious.

We had the Smoked Onion Spinach Dip w/baguette as an appetizer and wow. It was nice and warm and the baguette was lightly toasted. Perfection is a great adjective here. It was the right kind of creamy and I’ve not tried a smoked onion version of this hot appetizer so it was a nice surprise. I wanted to try a local clam or oyster dish since those are sourced fresh right the waters nearby but my travel companion doesn’t enjoy either so we chose the dip. The dish was returned empty .

Choosing a main dish is challenging, they have house favorites like 5 Poutine options and they had a Salmon Bisque…we both chose comfort foods.

I had Guiness and Steak Pie and my friend had Bangors and Mash, we were NOT disappointed ❤️.

According to my friend her Bangers were “sooooooo freaking good”. She actually didn’t say anything for a few minutes once she started eating. She was very very happy about her braised cabbage as well.

My beautiful Steak Pie❤️. It was baked a perfect golden brown, the steak so tender, the potatoes and carrots were very good.

If ever someone wanted an example of the best in comfort food, The Old Whiskey Mill nailed it. It’s not inexpensive but so worth the higher price.

We read all the other reviews about this place and they were correct it was dog friendly and an amazing place to have dinner. If you have a dog and they have an outside seating place for you and if you love whiskeys they have a wide selection for you to try. I am myself stuck with a Moscow Mule while my wife had a harvest moon. Service is great even with having a short staff. And their team could not be any nicer. I highly recommend this is Sicilian seafood stew. The broth was amazing.
