Social Profile:

“This long-standing pub ticks all the boxes: traditional, immensely satisfying food; a buzzing atmosphere; and some of the friendliest, most genuine service around. Enjoy a drink in the cosy bar or take your seat in one of two spacious dining rooms, all of which boast plenty of character thanks to exposed brickwork, old engravings and patinated wooden furniture. The cooking includes the ever-popular likes of rib-eye steak and chips, while the desserts are a real highlight, especially if you get to try the excellently crafted bread and butter pudding.“

Went to The Old Spot with a friend and left overjoyed. From the moment we arrived every staff member was so kind and attentive. Even if the food wasn’t up to standard the team they have would’ve brought us back regardless. Saying that – it was one of our favourite meals EVER had out! The portions are generous and the food was perfectly seasoned and balanced. I have a gluten allergy and also vegetarian and still had amazing options. Dessert was 10/10 too. Their signature cocktail menu was very impressive too – coming from a bartender. Back to the staff – they made our night, you can tell they genuinely take pride in their work. Can’t wait to go back!

Went for the Sunday roast and it absolutely lived up to expectations. The starters were a standout — the deep-fried mac & cheese and the crispy ham hock & Comté croquette were incredible.

Adrian was one of the best servers I’ve had in a long time — attentive, friendly and made the whole experience even better.

10/10 for The Old Spot and the whole team!

Last weekend me and my boyfriend had an unforgettable dinner at The Old Spot, and I can confidently say it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Dublin.

Every dish was crafted with balance, the flavours complemented each other beautifully without ever overpowering one another. I had the trout served on a bed of seafood, and it was simply exceptional: delicate, rich, and perfectly seasoned. Each bite felt harmonious, showing real attention to detail in the kitchen.

Beyond the outstanding food, what truly made the evening special was Gabo, the restaurant manager. His genuine warmth, professionalism, and passion for what he does elevated the entire experience. He made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in, guided us through the wine pairings with great care, and ensured that everything, down to the smallest detail, was perfect. Moreover, he was always ready to explain the vision behind the flavours and drinks. It’s rare to find a restaurant manager who can combine such skill and kindness, but Gabo truly makes the difference.

I was eager to try it because it had gone into the Michelin guide but to be honest it wasn’t worth the effort. The waiter made such a fuss of telling me my €24 burger would be cooked medium rare which is how they “do it” that I was astonished to bite in and find it cold and well done. My chips were also cold. Onion rings too. Wine was good and desserts were fine. We got two mains, two desserts and two wines for €109. Overpriced and not worth the money. Staff are pleasant. I was so disappointed I didn’t tip.

I do this with a heavy heart. Venue is lovely. Staff are pleasant and professional. Superb cocktail (Bee’s wobbly knees) and the the food in general was excellent.
I had the battered fish and chips. The fish was flakey, the batter crispy and served at an Ideal temperature.
I just don’t know what happened with the seasoning? It was if someone had dropped a salt cellar into the batter. Never in my life had a meal so salty.
I’m assuming it was a mistake and would try again ‍♂️

The best meal I’ve had in Ireland so far. Oysters were fresh with a classic red wine vinaigrette. The ponzu bluefin tuna was a surprise- delicate flavours but richened by the creaminess of the avocado. A perfectly-cooked pork chop followed for mains, with colcannon, apple puree, a syrupy cider jus and the only black pudding I’ve ever enjoyed! Finally, sticky toffee pudding for dessert with burnt banana ice cream. I make banana milk gelati at home but this was better than any I’ve made. Lovely chablis and nebiolo ti accompany, rounding out a pretty perfect meal. The service was 10/10 and interior and ambience were warm and inviting. I can’t fault this gastropub at all and will certainly be recommending!

Super tasty food but it was very warm inside the restaurant. Desperately need fans or some kind of airflow in the restaurant.

Our server was prompt but not super friendly.

Definitely worth a stop for good food!

We had a great experience at the old spot. Went on a spontaneous stop looking for dinner. This spot has been nominated for Michelin star on multiple occasions. The food was good and the service was even better. The tuna appetizer although small, was delicious. The bread did not stand out for me. It was not bad, it was not anything that stood out like everything else did. The burger was awesome. Made with wagyu beef. Came with a side of fries. Definitely a level up from your average burger. The fish and chips were also tasty. The batter was light and the fish was flavorful. The fries were served as sides on both meals and they tasted fresh and just crunchy enough to be just right. The fish came with a side of mushy pees which were better tasting than others we tried during our stay in Dublin. Overall the location offers a great selection of drinks and a great menu. The location is dimly lit which we enjoyed. Great setting for dinner with friends or a romantic meal. The outside first impression doesn’t do it justice. Location clean and the staff professional and friendly. Don’t forget, you should tip in Ireland! I know much of Europe the idea of tipping is different. Visitors to Ireland, tip!

Best Sunday roast in town!
We had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Old Spot. The roast was incredibly tasty and the service was amazing. Hazel the manager welcomed us from the start in a very professional way and ensured we would have a great experience.
We all had the traditional roast beef and finished with a lovely desert!
We brought some friends that were visiting from Italy and they loved it. We will definitely go back!
