For the price, OSF (Old Spaghetti Factory) does not get much better. We applaud their relentless focus on pasta and spaghetti, and not veering off into “random” dishes like the Cheesecake Factory or TGI Fridays has. OSF, despite being a chain, retains its class and dignity.

I haven’t been to OSF for almost 2 decades… and during our recent visit to Sacramento, we thought it’d be a great place to dine with the entire family. We were in the mood for some good pasta, and OSF did not disappoint.

The classic mizithra and brown butter pasta was slightly dry… but very flavorful. The meat sauce was just perfect, both the noodles and the sauce. The fetuccine with clam sauce was also solid. Considering how much pasta this place serves, I’m presuming they are not hand-pulling the noodles. However, the strands were solid and we left satisfied.

The tiramisu dessert was a bit off as it was frozen. The salad also seemed to have been prepared ahead of time – the greens had lost a bit of their rigidity. Even so, we had a wonderful time at OSF. The meatballs on the side were also great and filled with flavor.

On this particular night of our visit, the service was absolutely horrible. I understand they were busy but it was absolute chaos. Our server barely showed his face, put in wrong orders twice, and delivered us one meatball instead of 3. We had asked for extra utensils and plates which he also forgot. Again, the service was a disaster but it does not seem like this should happen given each day is really packed.

I’m leaving it at 4 stars just because OSF has stayed truthful to the art and science of great pasta. And at that price point, we would visit again in a heartbeat.

I went into The Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown Sacramento not really sure what to expect, especially since it is a chain. I was honestly surprised in the best way. The gluten free spaghetti was genuinely good. The pasta had a great texture and did not feel like a substitute. On top of that, the gluten free sauce options were flavorful and satisfying, not bland or watered down. That alone made the visit worth it for me.

This is not a fancy place and it is not trying to be. What it does really well is deliver a solid meal quickly, in a comfortable casual setting, at a price that feels more than fair. I got seated fast, the service moved efficiently, and the food came out quickly without feeling rushed in a negative way. Everything felt smooth and well paced, which is exactly what you want when you are hungry and just trying to get a reliable meal downtown.

The biggest highlight was the value. The price to quality ratio is perfect. You get good portions, consistent food, and a gluten free option that feels like a real meal, not an afterthought. Eating gluten free while traveling can be hit or miss, so it was a relief to find a spot where I could order pasta and actually enjoy it from the first bite to the last.

Overall, I left completely satisfied and I would absolutely come back. If you are in the area and want a dependable meal with a legitimately good gluten free pasta option, this place is an easy choice.

The servers were very friendly. The food was very good and we were able to use a birthday coupon which made our meals a good value. I love that the building is an old railroad building. The decor is fun and I love the trolley. I think the place was possibly understaffed. We waited a while for a hostess to greet us and put our name down. It took a very long time to wait for the check, a box, and then for them to take our payment. But overall, we had an enjoyable experience here.

I ordered online the Tortellini dinner, a salad with Thousand Island dressing, and about an hour, and a half later I was vomiting up my dinner. When I called the manager, Eric, to let him know about this. He told me that he had the “exact same dinner,” and he did not get sick. How convenient is it for the manager to say he had the same dinner, as me to avoid any responsibility!? This was not the first time I have eaten there, but it will certainly be the last!

Staff was amazing and accommodating. We came in late to eat and everyone was so nice. Our waitress was very helpful. Food was so good. The atmosphere was very laid back and the trolly was so interesting. We had the fettuccine alfredo with the cheesy garlic bread. We washed it down with Italian sodas and got the glass for a keepsake! Prices were very affordable. Will be back !

The food was great and it was very nice inside and fancy but I gave service 3 stars because it took a while to be check on and to get my drink refilled but it seemed like there was maybe only 1 server so it was acceptable

I went in a couple of weeks ago and we had a server named Juliia and she was attentive at first and then seemed to disappear for lengths of time when we needed her. The food and beverages were excellent as the hosts and other worker stepped up and got us some sodas and refills but the restaurant its self isn’t to blame. But when I do return I wouldn’t ever want her as my server. I would rather order Togo.
UPDATE: My siblings and grandmother went in on a Sunday after a monster truck show or some sort of preformance at golden 1 – and were unlucky and seemed to have been seated with Julia or Juliia again. I heard the back the same things I experienced along with them having to flag down other staff to grab things. Honorable mentions those staff who brought out the food and sat them as they didn’t have reservations. Excellent service from the rest of the staff but a terrible experience with the server once again. Very disappointing….

we were warmly welcomed and received good service. the atmosphere was very pleasant and quiet (we were late in the restaurant and there weren’t many people around). after ordering, there is warm bread with butter – that was great. the menus (spaghetti + lasagne) came with a salad, which tasted delicious. the spaghetti also tasted very good. the tomato sauce for the lasagna had an extraordinary amount of flavor, which i thought was great. unfortunately, the lasagna was not seasoned enough, which is a shame. for this reason, i give it 4 stars. otherwise, i would recommend this restaurant.
