I hate writing negative reviews, but this was honestly disappointing.

We ordered the sampler platter, which was advertised as feeding 2–3 people and cost $35. For the amount and quality of food we received, that price felt extremely unreasonable. It was essentially a small fried food sampler that didn’t match the price point at all.

Old Shillelagh is such a staple in downtown Detroit, so I expected better value and quality. Between the overpriced food and drinks, it felt like the restaurant is relying more on its name and location than the actual experience.

Really hoping they reconsider pricing or improve portions because this did not feel worth it.

Yay for vegan food and fun music!! The jackfruit Reuben rolls were delish, and I also really enjoyed the vegan potato skins. The sauces for both were outstanding! Vegan carrot cake was moist and sweet. Food was very good all around. Prices were a little expensive for bar food, but nothing crazy

Absolutely loved the plant-based menu – it was the reason we went there! So many options and so very delicious, drinks were awesome and the vibe was amazing.

The service here is so great. We spent two nights here and loved it. The food is pub style but all so tasty. We found the nachos to have cold beef but maybe that’s a thing.
On the second night we were upstairs and had awesome service from Jenna. Give that lady a raise. She was only on her third shift but was killing it and understands how to keep patrons engaged.
My only dislikes:
Guinness beer in an Irish pub being served in plastic pints.
Cocktails is plastic cups.
I asked for a glass for my whisky and she got me one which was great but the default is plastic.
We had many different menu items and everyone enjoyed what they had. Awesome vibes in that place too.

Went last year. Just happened to walk by and my friends wanted to go in…. $5 Cover per and we went inside because my friend wanted to see. Empty but charging auto tip on every drink. Band played one KISS song to keep us interested but everything else was mid or lower…. auto grat for overpriced plastic cup beer. No thanks. Walked passed this pub since to go to a better place… take my money once….

I have many very fond memories of spending time upstairs with the Black Mist. Whether it be New Year’s Eve, St Patrick’s Day, birthdays or just a night on the town, those nights will always be considered the best of times.

I’m hoping to get there for at least one more St. Patrick’s Day celebration soon to relive my youth!!

Waitstaff was very attentive. Music was 90’s nostalgic. Crowd was laid back and relaxed. The vegan options were amazing! They had so many that we ordered 2 entrees each in addition to the appetizer. Literally, everything was great. One of the staff members even gave us some fresh herbs picked from out back to cook at home with.
Highly recommend the flaming hot burger and vegan bratwurst!!!!
Bet on your mom I’ll be coming back.
Our waitress btw, I just have to mention was so polite and courteous.

Dined here before an event at Ford Field (only an 8 min walk away). In Greektown area, this older pub offers patio seating (to accommodate for larger parties) that does have heaters in the winter and TVs to watch sporting events. Typical bar/pub atmosphere, service was ok (our waitress wasn’t the greatest, as she missed placing two of our 11 party members orders and then completely forgot about 1 entirely, claiming she “couldn’t read her own handwriting”)?? Overall food was good (vegan party members enjoyed the beyond burgers but did not care for the jackfruit Reuben.) Fries are very tasty, fish tacos were good, buffalo chicken wrap was flavorful & filling and the regular burgers & Reuben were good, too. Pepsi products a minus. Definitely an option if you are in the area and need a convenient bite to eat before heading to an event in downtown Detroit. (Near Greektown Casino)

Impressively expansive clearly-labeled/dedicated vegan menu with a ton of variety and options! The bar was fun, we stopped by for a quick lunch. Staff was friendly, sit anywhere & order at the bar kind of experience. Definitely would go back!

You would think if there is an automatic 15% tip added that the staff would be friendly and/or accommodating for to the literal only patrons in your bar, but sadly no. We felt like we were intruding on their “phone time”. The construction is not the only thing hurting the business, it’s the staff. Might want to act like you are happy to have people in your bar at peak times. Will not recommend this place to anyone
