The Old Saloon first opened its doors in 1902 to serve passengers traveling the rail line through Paradise Valley on their way to Yellowstone National Park. With the Emigrant depot located directly out front, the Saloon quickly became a natural stop for weary travelers. The same rail line also supported agriculture and mining, bringing cowboys, ranchers, miners, and tourists together under one roof — a uniquely Montana mix that continues to define the spirit of the Old Saloon today.

The waiter was very friendly and recommended the chicken fried steak, which was outstanding. We also ordered huevos rancheros, fish and chips, and the fried chicken with a spicy honey butter muffin. Every dish was flavorful and really well done.
The saloon has a real country vibe and a lot of personality. The decor feels authentic, and the small details really stand out, including the funny “butt cheeks” photos in the bathrooms .
Solid food, great service, and a place we’d happily stop at again.
The Old Saloon is everything you hope to find when you stumble into a historic western bar, authentic, welcoming, and full of character. From the moment we walked in, we felt like locals. The staff was friendly and quick with a smile (and a strong pour!).
We came for a drink and ended up staying for the live music, which was surprisingly top-notch. The vibe is laid-back but lively, with a perfect mix of old-school charm and Montana grit. The food hit the spot too, nothing fancy, just hearty and delicious.
Whether you’re passing through or staying nearby, the Old Saloon is a must. It’s the kind of place you remember long after the trip is over. Can’t wait to come back!
Portions were just right, and the home fries were fresh and perfectly seasoned. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken and Biscuit, and it was outstanding. The biscuits were flaky and delicious, and the chicken with hot honey was incredibly flavorful.
Service was excellent from start to finish. Thank you for such an enjoyable meal!
