The Old ’76 House has a cozy atmosphere with a fireplace and wooden floor that creates a warm and inviting feel. The live soft music adds to the calm atmosphere, which is perfect for brunch. The service is good, and the prices are fair (be aware though: there is an extra fee if you pay by credit card). I went there for brunch and had a good time. The onion soup was nice and smooth with great flavors. The steak and eggs and potatoes were tender and juicy. Lastly, the Belgian waffle was superb, not too sweet with nice whipped cream and fruit on top. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great brunch experience.

Let me start by this has to be the most patriotic establishment to have a burger at on July 4th. The atmosphere, the history of the building and location are second to none. Having a pint of Sam Adams here just makes it that much more special. Now the reason for the 3 stars has nothing to do with the wait staff, Johanna was awesome and included some quick history lessons for us.

Excellent food and nice little historic place to visit and experience! The lamb and the pork chop was great! I really liked how the baked potato came out with the slices in it torched? It made it crispy on the edge yet it was a mashed/baked potato.

It was a great experience, while enjoying my three courses meal. That kind of feeling brings back the moments when President George Washington having his lunch here and not to miss out history been made here.

Very cool place with a great history. Small menu and a bit pricey but the food was very good. We ordered the Fish and chips and the Grilled Flatbread…both worth it. The town also has lots of history and worth exploring if you have time. Service was great and friendly!

There is so much history here that at times the stories seem fictitious. But this is a tavern which competes for the title of oldest in the nation, and it can only be assumed that a lot of history happened here. We met the owner who regaled us with tales of George Washington, Benedict Arnold, Alexander Hamilton, and of course Major John Andre, the most famous spy of the Revolution who spent his final days here prior to his execution. I bought a few rounds of the Tavernkeepers ’76 Porter, made from the same recipe given to George Washington during his stays. The food was rather expensive ($25.00 for a burger and fries), but otherwise it was an enjoyable visit to this historical tavern.

Seriously great food and awesome service. In an authentic old house. You feel welcome and pampered. Ask for a table near the fireplace for even more atmosphere. I would give it 6 stars if I could. And make a reservation a few days in advance, they are busy! The duck is excellent, the pork chop is perfect, and the burger is too, Have been there with the family several times and haven’t had less than an excellent meal.

I met a friend coming from further north who drove over an hour to get to this place and it was pretty unimpressive. We thought my son would like it because he’s a big history buff. It more like any other local tavern. The food was decent the server was very nice but the food took a long time and she just wasn’t a good waitress. It’s definitely not somewhere I would go back or recommend anybody driving more than 10 minutes to go to.
