I can’t think of a more perfect place for an anniversary dinner! The Office of Mr Moto delivered on exceptional high quality food and wonderful service. We had Kenji as our head chef and he is so talented and kind as he prepared 21 courses at the counter for us. Every piece of fish is so fresh and the presentation was so beautiful. The Japanese snapper, king salmon and tuna’s were my favorite. And the oyster starter was the best I’ve ever had. I also loved the truffle and caviar course, it melts in your mouth. I highly recommend the sake pairing – they match every dish perfectly and the apple one was incredible!

You have to check out the speakeasy downstairs before you leave. It is so charming and there’s a piano that plays itself, it’s so enchanting! If you’re looking for a phenomenal and memorable omakase experience, this is the place to go.

Had dinner at Office of Mr. Moto last Saturday, and I have to say I enjoyed the experience. The whole speakeasy concept and backstory leans heavily into branding, but it’s a fun setup and they commit to it. That said, the real highlight was the omakase. The sushi was excellent—super fresh, delicately prepared, and seasoned just right to enhance the natural flavors of the fish. There were some unique and rare selections that stood out. And their uni roll? Absolute bomb. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that much uni packed into one roll. You’re definitely paying extra for the concept though. I agree with other reviewers who’ve said it feels overpriced compared to some of the other high-end omakase spots in the city. Still, the quality was there and I did enjoy the meal overall.

The fish was delicious and the omakase style fantastic. If I were the proprietor I would probably lose all of the Mr Moto stuff and focus on the food and beautiful dining room. In fairness once you are in and seated that’s pretty much what they have done anyway.

We sat at the bar and went with the classic sake pairing—highly recommend. The whole experience was elevated by the incredible storytelling from both the staff and the chef, which made each course and pour feel special. The atmosphere is intimate and welcoming, and you can tell a lot of thought goes into the details.

Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience that’s equal parts delicious and engaging.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of New York City, Office of Mr. Moto offers an unforgettable Omakase experience that truly stands out in a city known for its culinary excellence. From the moment you step inside, you’re transported to a world where art, ambiance, and exceptional cuisine come together in perfect harmony.

The setting is nothing short of unique. The restaurant exudes an air of exclusivity, enhanced by its speakeasy-style bar downstairs. This hidden gem, with its dim lighting and intimate atmosphere, sets the stage for what is to come—a meal that is as much about the experience as it is about the food.

Speaking of the food, it is simply divine. The chef’s meticulous attention to detail is evident in every course. The fish is incredibly fresh, each bite melting in your mouth with a delicate yet profound flavor. The progression of dishes feels thoughtfully curated, with each piece of sushi telling a story of the chef’s expertise and creativity. The artistry on the plate is matched only by the stunning artwork that adorns the walls, making it a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.

The wait staff deserves special mention as well. They are not only friendly but also exceptionally knowledgeable. Their explanations of each course add depth to the dining experience, and their warm, attentive service makes you feel like a valued guest in an exclusive club.

From start to finish, the experience at Office of Mr. Moto is flawless. The combination of outstanding food, remarkable service, and a one-of-a-kind setting earns this restaurant a well-deserved 5 stars. Whether you’re a sushi aficionado or simply looking for a memorable dining adventure, Office of Mr. Moto is a must-visit.

It was an unexpected surprise that Mr. Moto was so detail oriented from the beginning of the experience to the end. I loved how involved my friend and I got while exploring the space and all of its nooks.

It was a surprising delight as I wanted to come here for a while knowing it is hard to book. I took the slots immediately after knowing a cancellation. The deco was such an intriguing story centering Mr. Moto’s experience. The food was superb. It had a good modern flair with extremely high quality products. The master chef was so creative and made sure the appearance and the flavor were complimented to bring the best. We had 3 kinds of tuna with toro, 2 kinds of uni, the appetizer with the fresh oyster was so fresh and eye catching. The steamed egg with sakura/seafood was beyond amazing. The wagyu beef with truffle was so delicate and it melted into your mouth. After the dinner, we got a chance to walk down to enjoy the piano bar, sorry I forgot to take a photo. It was so relaxing and tranquil. Overall amazing experience.

Our journey begins with a letter from The Office of Mr Moto containing a cipher to solve in order to gain access to this omakase speakeasy. Once inside, we were transported to 19th-century Japan filled with rare Japanese antiques and artifacts with an intimate atmosphere. Hint! While we couldn’t touch most of the artifacts, there was one interactive piece that revealed a delightful surprise. Their staffs are very professional and attentive explaining each course in depth. Don’t forget to ask for sake pairings and different sakes available for the best experience. Food and ingredients are as fresh and delicious as it can get with beautiful aesthetics. We received a business card with a cipher on the back at the end of our meal. Solve it and gain special access to Mr. Moto’s concierge via their website! After the meal, we were invited to relax in The Library with comfy leather sofas and a self-playing Yamaha piano with details Prohibition-era for Japanese whisky. Drop by The Office of Mr Moto where you can enjoy both a delicious restaurant and a private museum!
