I’ve driven by The Office more times than other places in Davenport. This is mostly owing to the many trips I’ve taken to Antonella’s Pizza close by (family loves their pizza). After a meal nearby at City Loafers, I wanted to cap the night off with a G&T.
The interior is vastly different than I would have envisioned for a place called The Office. The floors are a decidedly cheap wood grain patterned vinyl material of some type. The walls are a painted dark olive green, covered by corrugated aluminum (or steel?) sheet metal on the bottom half of the wall on a good portion of the bar. Strips of accent lights dot the black 2 x 4 foot drop ceiling throughout. There’s a few dart machines and one of those TouchTunes music boxes in every bar these days. The bar is a prominent dark granite that runs most of the length of the space. All of this comes together to give the appearance of not quite a dive bar. It has some wear, but the rough edges are clearly clean. It’s a good thing – I like it.
I opted for my typical cocktail, and Bombay and Tonic. The sole bartender working (it wasn’t busy at this point) had the drink out to me quickly. It came in a mason jar – not the weird ones with a tiny handle, an actual mason jar. The drink was solid – not too gin-ey, not watered down either.
The bartender was friendly. We chatted a bit about my work, the weather, preferred drinks, and about good burger places, focusing on Central Standard in Bettendorf. It was a good conversation, truly part of a good way to end the week.
Not sure I’d come back this way by myself again – maybe with a larger group of friends or work mates. It’s just a little further afield from home in Bettendorf than I’d care to drive out specifically for. It’s a nice place though, so if you live close to here you should give it a try. Thanks, Office!

It is a dive bar but has a dress code for some reason. The only reason it gets decent on food is a bar tender gave us some throw away stuff for free

The bouncer said my I.D. was fake and I’ve been here multiple times and I have a star on my I.D. It feels that he was racial motivated in his statement to say that it was fake. He knows that it wasn’t fake because he gave me my I.D back. I hope you all get better staff.

This place was just the atmosphere I was looking for. Drinks were great, they made a weird request drink for me really well. The eggrolls were also good, my friend and I shared a flight of them and they were yummy, even though we had no idea which o e was which. Also it was very well priced.

I am from out of town the last two experience I had were really weird. I was wearing a knitted jumpsuit set and not sweat pants and the Security guard said it was sweatpants and didn’t let me in. I decided to go home and change because I thought my other bars would tell me the same. I left respectfully. We can and my light skin friend came in and was wearing actual sweatpants. That was last weekend. Sometimes last year I came to the bar and ask for a request from the DJ. He said he doesn’t do request and then my white friend ask and then I said I thought you don’t do request. And he said ” You are not her.” It racially motivated. I chalked up my first encounter as maybe I am not his type and he was just a jerk but the second one seem intentional. I use to love going to this bar when I came in town because of the 90s music. Now I am don’t see myself coming back.

Monday night they gave me a moscow mule that tasted rotten. They refused to remake my drink even though I tipped $5 on a $7 bill. Extremely disappointing and disgusting. So if you go, just know they don’t believe in fixing their mistakes and you pay for rotten tasting drinks.
