The french fries were the tastiest part of our meal. The bagel and smoked salmon dish was overpriced, for sure. The bagel itself was difficult to eat because it was kind of hard. We’ve had yummier french toasts elsewhere. Disappointed it was kind of a flop.

Got the salmon tartare and flank frites. Overall we loved the vibe and the service was very good. We also liked the flank frites but I liked the garlic butter more than the au poivre. The fries were perfectly crisp. The salmon tartare was ok, and the sauce honestly didn’t go that well with it.

It was one of the best date dinners ever in NYC! Charming atmosphere, elegant audience, attentive staff, delicious dishes, and surprisingly not as loud as usually in NYC. The Odeon is NYC staple. It never disappoints. It is my go to place not only because it happens to be in my neighborhood, but because you are sure to have a great experience every single time. It is always buzzy but never overly loud or messy. The staff is professional and attentive. Tonight we had the best treatment from Glory who took very good care of us and our holiday dinner on such a busy night. So appreciated!

Dear Odeon, in your reply to my comment, you noted that you appreciate constructive feedback, and I think that’s totally fair.
When I left the two-word review “Yassified McDonalds” to describe my dining experience at your restaurant two weeks ago, what I meant is that when I looked at, smelled and tasted my meal, which was a hamburger and french fries, I had the experience of eating a familiar meal—often served at McDonald’s—that had been glamorized. Indeed, you improved the quality of the burger: higher quality meat, fresher bun, bespoke remoulade instead of special sauce, a tidy pedestal for my fifty five french fries—literally elevating the cuisine.
As I ate, I experienced roughly the same essential combination of fat, carbs, protein, etc., that I would have at McDonald’s for about half the price. My body processed the nutrients and transformed them into caloric energy that I expended to audit and traverse our beautiful home, New York City. And for that I am grateful.
“Yassified McDonalds” is not a poor review. I enjoyed the food at Odeon; I enjoy the food at McDonald’s; I enjoy yassification; what’s not to like? It just wasn’t a five-star experience for me, and honest appraisals of experiences are the mortar that secures the very foundation of our burgeoning online review culture. If anything, the review is a reminder to myself about what I pay for when I go out to eat, and how atmosphere and location and service are built into the cost, and how sometimes I’d rather just have next to no hospitality and enjoy a more affordable burger in the comfort of my own hovel.
I appreciate how the wry pithiness of the original review may have been hard to parse initially, and I hope you’re able to garner some more concrete information from this longer comment. At the end of the day, I think we can agree that any dining experience that doesn’t end with a grimace or a visit from the Hamburglar is a successful one.

Amazing historic spot. Casual but upscale. Incredible food, service and setting. Same owner as Balthazar so that isn’t surprising. Always packed so make a reservation. We happened to go on the restaurant’s anniversary and they gave the entire restaurant a complimentary cocktail of their choice. Class act.

The Odeon – Nice French bistro, lovely place near our hotel and on the way to One World. Lovely lunch menu, but it all looked good. Food served hot and timely manner. We didn’t have reservations but was seated even though they were full.
