The service was impeccable. Our server Ronald B demonstrated deep knowledge of the menu and really put efforts to make this night special for us. We were so happy to follow all his recommendations and truly enjoyed every single moment of our meal. Thank you Ronald!!
A truly outstanding dining experience. Highly recommended.
You CANNOT miss the biscuits, best we’ve ever had and the honey butter is to die for. We also liked the Caesar, it was rich but light at the same time. We both had steaks which were cooked perfectly and Brussels sprouts on the side that had an amazing flavor but I wish they were a bit crispier. The pink champagne cake is SO good, rich but not heavy. Also enjoyed the hot buttered rum and the Edmont cocktail was one of the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back!
We started with a Cosmo and an espresso martini, then shared the wedge salad and lobster bisque — both were out of this world. For entrées, we had the 18 oz ribeye and the 8 oz filet mignon, both cooked perfectly. We finished with the lemon icebox dessert that our server recommended, and it was the perfect ending to the meal.
From the atmosphere to the food to the service, everything was top-tier. Definitely recommend and definitely coming back.
My server, Diego C., was the perfect blend of attentive and tactful ~ always available but never intrusive. His recommendations were spot-on, and I went with the filet mignon with Brussels sprouts with apricots and onions ~ perfectly prepared. Probably the best fillet I’ve had!
My cocktail, the Ms. Fitzgerald, was creative, refreshing, and unlike anything I’ve had before. For dessert, I chose the coconut cake, and it was heavenly! The layers were dipped in coconut extract, giving it the most luscious, aromatic flavor unforgettable. Definitely a shareable size.
The restaurant itself is gorgeous ~ a two-story establishment with warm, sophisticated energy. Even the restroom was a highlight ~ it smelled incredible and looked like something out of a luxury hotel!
In the middle of my dinner, the manager, Munira, stopped by to see how everything was going, and she was so pleasant and gracious. She genuinely cared to hear about my experience and made me feel truly valued as a guest. Her warmth and professionalism perfectly matched the restaurant’s elegant atmosphere and exceptional service.
I found out that after being closed for over a year and a half, The Occidental reopened in March 2025 under Stephen Starr’s ownership, and the results are spectacular.
Highly, highly recommend ~ 11/10! I’ll definitely be back again!
My friend and I are first time visitors to DC and reserved a lunch date here. From entering the restaurant to leaving, every single employee was kind, attentive, and personable.
Devon was absolutely amazing. Kind, attentive, and absolutely engaged with what we coined our “girl lunch”. She answered our questions with honest answers and suggestions and made our lunch date absolutely amazing. If the owners happen to read this, you have an absolute gem of a waitress working for you.
The food is admittedly pricey but Devon did not tell a lie when she said the crab cake was amazing. Absolutely delicious. The salad was also a large portion and the chicken was incredibly juicy and well seasoned.
The restaurant itself is stunning, with the sunlight streaming through windows and dinner rooms cloaked in velvet – this is the perfect eating spot.
