Oak Bistro offers a clean, modern space with bold menu concepts and a calm campus vibe. Parking is available in student lots, though visitors must pay. Street parking exists but can be tight, so arriving early is best. The space itself is welcoming, and staff are generally responsive. Service time averaged around 12 to 15 minutes for most items, but the Chipotle Burger took nearly 30 minutes to arrive—an area that could use improvement, especially during lunch rush.

The Poke Bombshell Taco looked promising but didn’t deliver. The fish lacked seasoning, and the texture was off—too much sauce, not enough crunch. It wasn’t unpleasant, but it didn’t meet expectations. In contrast, the Chipotle Burger was a standout: juicy, well-balanced, and layered with smoky heat. The chipotle aioli added depth, and the bun held everything together without falling apart. It’s a confident, satisfying choice I’d highly recommend.

Overall, Oak Bistro earns a 4 out of 5. The burger alone justifies a return visit, and with some refinement to the taco and service pacing, the experience could be even stronger.

The food is pretty meh. I liked the cafeteria before this, we had larger portions and nice flavors for a better price. The oak bistro has hardly any variety, food is arranged at terribly high prices for small portions, there seems to be a charge for every little addition to your food. (a 1 dollar charge for an extra bit of sauce???) The food was fine for the first month or so but I quickly got bored of it and couldn’t handle the taste of dried tofu and bland vegetables. I swear the price for the snacks at the bistro increase every week. Most of the time, dishes don’t even have the ingredients that are supposed to be in the dish, and food is made haphazardly. (why are there tortilla chips in the keep it simple bowl???)
It’d be really nice if the kiosk that you order from has a picture of the food + a description of what’s inside the dish. Having something other than wraps and burgers also helps

The only reason why the service is 4 stars is because of the cafe under Oak Bistro (Vasona Cafe) is really nice.
The baristas are super sweet, and the coffee may be priced slightly higher, but its normally pretty well done. There used to be boba too, and it was pretty good – I wished they kept it. I feel like if they kept selling oolong tea and added specials like Thai tea once in a while, the cafe/starbucks would have done pretty well with customers. I loved the drawings that the baristas left on some of the cups, they’re so cute. The baristas always seem to be super overworked though, I hope management can actually hire more people instead of overworking the baristas.
