If ever you are visiting the totally charming town of Salmon, Idaho, be sure to stop for dinner at the Nook. You’ll be joining what seems like the entire town at the bar around back. Its so popular, you’ll be challenged to find a seat! But no worries, there are plenty of tables in the Nook’s other rooms, where you’ll be welcomed with some of the best service you’ll find anywhere. And did I mention the food? Try the trout. It is some of the best fish I’ve ever eaten. Delicious! Oh, I forgot to mention the steamers. If you’ve had steamers back east, you’re in for a treat. The Nook’s steamers are SO much better than anything you’ll get in Boston. If I drowned in the sauce, I’d believe I was in heaven. Yum!!!

Yummy food! I enjoyed the huckleberry trout, my husband loved his chicken sandwich and my son had the kids beef and cheddar roll which was HUGE. Also they made a great huckleberry iced tea and martini! Great service !

The reason sliced brisket is better than chopped is because you can assess the character of the meat. Can see the bark, smoke ring and rendering of the fat. Usually if brisket is chopped, they are hiding some deficiency. Since they chopped pickles into the sandwich, I did notice any smoke flavor. There was some indication of a little bark.
The sandwich’s portions was reasonable. Sauce wasn’t over powering. The salad on the other hand was top-notch and some of the best blue cheese dressing I’ve had in a long time. Keylime pie was very tasty. I enjoyed the meal, service was great. But, if you’re a brisket, snob sandwich comes up a little short.

Oh my goodness. We had the greatest food. The chef really knows what he/she is doing. Our server was great and very attentive, but gave us time to be alone also. Loved this place, just wish we lived closer!! Highly recommend if you are in the area, stop by!

Great service, excellent food, flawless preparation. Older establishment a bit dated in decor, spotlessly clean!

Four of us had dinner there. The ribeye steak and chicken cordon blue were well liked. The pork chop was dry and chewy. Mgt could have adjusted for it but didn’t when he should have. Cheese cake was great. At $174.00 it was too pricey to bother coming back.

Such mixed feelings about this place. Their salmon was cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. The side vegetable was pathetic. Soggy steamed broccoli drenched in butter. Vegetables can be so delicious, why doesn’t anyone ever know how to cook them!? Sad. But the potato….. Something was weird about the potato. It tasted good. Really good, actually. But it was not a normal russet potato. The flesh was brown and juicy. Our waitress would not explain how it was cooked to make it that way. I actually enjoyed the fact that it’s in a repurposed old house.

Took a little day trip to explore and found this awesome place to stop for dinner. We were VERY pleased with our experience. The steamed clams were a crowd pleaser and we couldn’t get enough of the sauce. I even used the sauce to dress my mashed potatoes! I got the chicken cordon bleu for my entree and it was delicious. The country fried steak was also a great dish. Highly recommend eating here!

There as a group. Service was one waitress doing a great job getting everyone’s order and bill correct.
I order the prime rib, medium rare. It was cooked as requested, however the meat was tough and dry. I was not pleased with the quality at all.

$19 for a very bland French dip, with very bland aujus, but it wasn’t bad. The fries however, were very soggy and pathetic. I probably wouldn’t eat here again unless i had to or wanted to give it another shot. Server was good besides talking about personal drama with her boyfriend while she eats right next to us eating.
