I traveled with a group for business, landed at LAX around 9a, and we decided we needed breakfast.. Enter The Nook Breakfast Spot for the win!!

I tried the Country Skillet, which features hone fries, ham, sausage, shredded cheddar, country gravy, and two eggs.. I ordered mine over medium.. The entrée also came with a choice of bread and I opted in for the biscuit..

The skillet was more than amply portioned and packed with flavor.. The biscuit had a very roll-like exterior but was very biscuit-like on the inside, so I’m curious as to how those are prepared.. It was quite good, regardless..

Others in our group sampled the chorizo scrambled eggs and the country fried steak and eggs.. Aside from discovering onions in the “country gravy” there weren’t any complaints..

Our group of seven had to wait a bit for a table, but once seated the service, courtesy of Alfonso was reasonably quick and our food selections were delivered tableside hot and fresh..

No one left hungry and all were quite pleased with our experience there.. I would definitely consider visiting again in the future to sample other menu offerings!!

A wonderful breakfast place serving all the classic American plates alongside specials like chilaquiles.

Inside is bright and welcoming with lots of windows. The booths are a little skinny, we fit fine but I will pick a regular table next time.

I got the avocado toast that comes with 2 eggs. My husband got their eggs + bacon plate and their hash browns were perfectly golden and crispy on the outside.

The waitress was super friendly and accommodating! Definitely a spot to bring visiting family or have mimosas for brunch. They do $5 mimosas on Mondays!

You’re on the west side next to the beach and airport on one of the busiest streets so the prices are more expensive but reasonable for the area.

Plenty of parking in the parking lot next to the restaurant.

A great little breakfast spot right across from the LMU campus. I know it’s popular for the LAX crowd as well because it is not far if you’re heading to or from the airport. There is a free parking lot attached in the back otherwise street parking is also easy to find. Inside is pretty large, they have many different sized tables and service here is always very fast. They also have a very large menu so you can always find a different great option each time you stop in.

For this most recent order I chose the Marinated Steak Benedict and added avocado and really loved it. It is actual steak, which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. It really had a lot of flavor and I enjoyed every part of it. I also appreciated how the side of fruit had a lot of watermelon and pineapple because so many other places just throw you all the cantaloupe and melon. I did feel the latte was a little bit watered down and wish it would’ve been stronger but overall it was a great meal and I would suggest if you are in the area or going to be passing through.

If you’re in the mood for comfort diner food with generous portions to share, The Nook is a great choice! They have Mimosas on Mondays and lunch deals Monday–Friday from 12–3. The food is flavorful and satisfying—though taste is personal, many find it delicious. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere make it a welcoming spot!”7

On Mother’s Day, our family gathered at the Nook breakfast spot near my daughter’s school, LMU, to celebrate. We found convenient parking nearby and were promptly seated at a booth for five. Several family members ordered samosas, but they weren’t very good paired without the orange juice. We “doctored” the drink by adding the orange juice I ordered make the drink palatable, as the other flavors didn’t work for us.

I ordered a stack of banana and strawberry pancakes, while others chose turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. My wife commented that the bacon was good, and my children enjoyed the turkey sausages. However, the bacon arrived alongside some rice that was far too salty to eat, and the hash browns were so plain that none of us could finish them.

As for my pancakes, they were basic and lacked distinctive flavor andpresentation, so I wouldn’t order them again. Overall, the atmosphere was joyful, relaxed, and casual, and the service was decent. The prices were manageable.

We first found this gem of a spot on a trip to the area two years ago by pure happenstance. It was so good we came back on this year’s trip out from Southwest FL, and ate here two mornings in a row! As always, the food was incredible, and our server, Evelyn, on both visits could not have been kinder! She was extremely knowledgeable on the preparation of the food and helped me make some great choices that stayed within the boundaries of my dietary restrictions. What a find two years ago, and when we return for our next visit to LA next year, The Nook Breakfast Spot tops our list of must-do!!

I love this place, but…. Mostly because it’s close and used to be reasonably priced. But the prices go up every time we go, and the food stays the same. We all feel the economic pressures right now, but some dishes have gone up about $5 in the last year. Great staff, good vibes, and love the people, but the prices are out of line with the quality of food. Also, order your fried eggs one level more than normal. Over easy will be undercooked, so do over medium. Wish I could rate higher, but prices don’t make sense. Coffee Company is nearby with similar prices and higher quality.

Had the Eggs Benedict, Country Skillet, and pancakes. The Benny was not very good with one of the eggs not cooked correctly. Hubby says the skillet and pancakes were good. Both homefries were cold, but I’m not one to send food back to the kitchen. Overall, I was disappointed and probably would not go back, but I it was convenient to our hotel.

A classic diner with delicious food!
I tried two off-‘menu items, the Fruity Pebbles French Toast and the Pastrami burger. Wow- both were fantastic. The Fruity Pebble toast crunch is served with condensed milk drizzle & whipped cream, I can’t wait to take my nieces to try it. The Pastrami Burger had a beef patty, Swiss, special sauce, sauerkraut, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, on and brioche bun! It was sooooo good! I’m not a specialty burger kind of gal, I usually prefer a basic cheese burger with lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion & sauce, but I loved this Pastrami Burger at The Nook.
We will definitely be back!
