The New Uptown Cafe delivers on delicious comfort food, homey atmosphere, and friendly staff. Service attentiveness and hospitality could use some work based on my first experience here if it wants to live up to its older sister, Uptown Diner, down the street. Still, the soup of the day and cornbread hit the spot on a cold December morning in the neighborhood.

We had a great Sunday breakfast . Our server, Mai, was excellent. It wasn’t busy but I think that was because on the weather (-10F). Three of our group had the breakfast special. We had our choice of French toast, pancake or waffle. Each of us tried a unique option and all were happy with our choice. The pancakes were colossal! He got two pancakes with the #2 special and each was larger than a traditional plate. The country fried steak was good. The steak was nice and crispy. They had very good eye bread. There is no parking free close.

Very good food, service, and atmosphere all around had a great 7 am breakfast on a Saturday. Parking was easy at the nearby ramp with a half block walk. The homemade caramel pecan roll (not pictured) was super good!! Great coffee 🙂 Ribeye (6 oz) Benedict was perfect – large portion.

My family stopped at Uptown on our way out of Minneapolis. Our server Kelly was so incredibly wonderful – above and beyond. She excels at her job & it’s obvious she treats all her diners with the utmost care and is attentive, even when the cafe is busy and she’s managing several tables. She immediately brought us a car seat sling, gave recommendations, provided clarity on food and drink options, and sent us on our way with coffee to-go because we’re clearly exhausted parents haha. Kelly, if you see this, you are a gem & you brightened my day. Thank you for the fresh OJ squeezed with love!

As soon as you enter this cafe, you experience the positive vibes from employees as well as the space that is well decorated. Our waitress was attentive and we got our nice and hot breakfast relatively quickly. I had the cajun breakfast and wow, it was a treat! I’d highly recommend it to anyone. My partner had one of the breakfast combos and really enjoyed it as well. Portions are big so well worth the money. I’ll definitely come back to this place!

Wow! The NewUptown Cafe is unbelievable!
First the staff are all wonderful people. Our waitress, Anayeli, was prompt, friendly and fabulous.
Next the facility and decor are very invting. The color scheme and design are chic and modern. Local top quality artists work is displayed throughout the cafe.
Last and certainly not least..the food. Choices are unique and many. I had the pineapple pancakes.. delicious! My friend enjoyed the huge egg and toast platter. All is carefully prepared in the spotless kitchen.
Yes 5stars all around!

Decided to try breakfast here. The first thing I noticed were the prices, wow! $18 for 2 eggs, a meat, and hash browns?? All the meal options were in this price range, which seems crazy to me. We ended up ordering the skillet dish and the biscuits and gravy. The huge portions justify the high price, the portions are large enough to bring leftovers home, but I miss the days when a breakfast for 2 people didn’t cost $60. The food was tasty and they server was nice. I probably wouldn’t return here but I enjoyed my meal.

Not a very cozy atmosphere. I want to feel warm and swaddled, not like I’m in an old redone warehouse. The art on the walls isn’t cohesive either. The food was mediocre diner food, and extremely overpriced. I thought it strange that the walleye was only a dollar more than the eggs Benedict. $19 for eggs benny? Service was serviceable and friendly. They should be getting paid more, they looked overwhelmed. Owners should put a bit more work into refining the quality of the menu. I did rly like the el yucateco sauce on the tables, that’s a nice touch.
Overall, much too expensive for quality of food and atmosphere.

While looking for a breakfast place in the Cities we found this place. It was quiet and we were seated immediately. The Husband decided to get 2 of the Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes, which was gigantic. I was not that hungry and went with the #2 Combo, my only issue was my food was not very warm when it arrived. But otherwise was fine. Our order was taken fast and then it took a little bit long to get the food. But it was a small staff, so we completely understood and weren’t in too much of a hurry. All and all it was a good breakfast place.

Great large portions of classic American breakfast. I really like this location because the large glass windows fill the place with natural light. Great spot for a day when you want to go out for a big breakfast.
