Good curry, enjoyed the food. Service was very quick on arrival, drinks delivered and food ordered swiftly. Starters came out soon after but there was quite a wait for mains, longer than expected even with a variety of dishes ordered for group of 10.

We have eaten at the Lahore on a few occasions over the last couple of months, we have always put up with the abrupt, sometimes very rude manner of the short man ( definitely suffering from short man syndrome! ) who has served us , not only to us, but the rude way he speaks to other customers & whilst taking takeaway orders, due to the food always being very good, but last night was definitely our last visit due to very poor service, he made snide comments when we asked to change tables that we’d only just sat down at !
Also the man pictured, would almost constantly keep coming over to our table lifting & shaking the beer bottles & hovering over us waiting for us to finish with the rice / curry serving plates etc, also he stank of stale tobacco smoke !
To top it off, we waited 25 minutes for the bill, after requesting it three times.

We tried this fantastic tucked away little restaurant for the first time last night after reading about it online and thought we’d give it a go.
We booked a table just an hour beforehand and were told no problem just come along and when we turned up we found it was just beginning to get busy at 7.30pm.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming from the first moment and very helpful when I asked some questions about dishes suitable to my girlfriends tastes and needs they were more than obliging in answering.
After a very short wait the food itself was absolutely superb beginning with the perfectly fresh and crispy poppadums and vibrantly colourful pickle tray which contained some really appetising and tasty selections.
Before long the main courses arrived and they certainly did not disappoint as they tasted just as good as they looked as well as being generously portioned. The spiciness of the biryani that I’d enquired about was just as I’d been assured it would and all of the food was fresh, colourful and full of flavour. The peshwari naan and saag paneer side dish were also absolutely outstanding. The prices also deserve a mention as being very reasonable especially when compared to the other couple of great restaurants we have frequented in newport. I think this place tops those both in terms of cost and very slightly in quality too. The food itself feels very light and somewhat less rich and oily than most other places which we really found to be a bonus as we left feeling much less of the usual “after Indian feeling” that we usually get.
We will definitely be frequenting this lovely little restaurant from now on and we wouldn’t hesitate at all to recommend it to anyone who gets the opportunity to try it.

I’ve ordered a Chicken Curry online and it tasted like rubbish and the chicken tasted like paper mache with no flavor, the rice was plain and when I called them up to complain they only offered a discount on our next order instead of fixing the order even though I received it as a collection. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

We made an impromptu visit to the new lahore, without booking, as a family of 7 this evening. We were warmly greeted and the fact we hadn’t booked wasn’t a problem. The staff were all very friendly and respectful every question was followed with sir or madam which stood out. The gentleman who waited on us (I’m sorry I didn’t get your name – the slightly older chap) was awesome despite having a large food order everything was top notch and piping hot, the massala was very flavourful and the passanda was thick and packed a nutty punch. This was our first visit on a friend’s recommendation but It definitely won’t be our last.

Sad day for me and my wife , I had my first curry a 16th in October 19 70 I’ve lived in and around Newport or my life and I’ve used the Lahore at every opportunity the curry in particular the old style as they call it now has always been first class and I have given many positive reviews. However tonight Friday ninth of January 2026 that will be my last meal from there. I have noticed a deterioration in the last couple of meals and tonight the chicken was really honestly like leather the Madras curry sauce very poor and after more recent failure to even have the right meal prepared for me unfortunately my time of using the Lahore has gone very, very disappointed. This was a long way from the many many years of good meals I have experienced it really is goodbye LOL.

Worst biryani I have ever eaten. 10.5 pounds for a single plate (what they call) biryani. Will never ever order from them again. Rice were clearly not fresh and taste clearly shows they don’t even know what is biryani. It was more like a mix Palao of chicken, beef and prawns. I have eaten 4 pounds biryani from cardiff 100 times better than it.
You are just looting people from your name The New Lahore. Nothing like lahore here.

I spent £32+ on 1 curry,2 rice due to size,1 chips. The quality of the food was extremely poor! Especially for that amount. My local takeaway is cheaper, more and can cook!!! A real Chef!
Frozen vegetable, rot smell due to old veg n not cooked properly….
Nothing is fresh about this place like genuine chefs n takeaways that take pride in there work.
I also requested chicken pieces to be cut abit smaller..literally just everything.
Chicken was off! Not cooked properly
Literally everything £30+ down the drain
Next time I’d rather die then eat there food.

Had a delivery from the new Lahore tonight upon ordering it said delivery time was up to an hour, well it took 2 & half hours to come. Garlic nan was soggy and cold, mint sauce was warm from being on top of the curry’s for so long. And yet the curry were cold by time they got to us. 6 small pieces of beef in a beef pathia wasn’t good value and tasted bang average. Chicken tikka masala had no taste to it but at least the chicken madras was ok my wife said. All in all at over £50 for a delivery I feel like I’ve been mugged. This once great restaurant has seen its best days long ago. Won’t be rushing back at all.

The food was lush but took over an hour from ordering to eating starters. Took 2 hours in total to get our starters & mains! Didn’t order dessert. We were a table of 6! It’s a small restaurant so the delay must have been from takeaway orders!?! The “”very short” bad mannered waiter was so rude to the older couple who were sat next to us. It was shocking! They’ve been going there a few times every year since the 60’s! The service doesn’t deserve a 1* The 1st waiter was horrible! He started an argument! So someone else took over & he was lovely. Will never go there again because of the 1st one! & will never recommend the place because of him! The food was great but I’d go elsewhere as the one waiter left a bad taste in our mouths! Do not recommend!
