We came here specifically for the French Quarter Oysters (grilled and topped with garlic butter, crab meat, and Parmesan) and they did not disappoint. Also ordered the hand cut fries which were addictive! I like my fries skinny and crispy and these hit.
When we arrived upstairs there was plenty of seating available and the atmosphere/view was very enjoyable. Things went south when our server “greeted” us (she didn’t introduce herself or give us a rundown of the menu, just simply asked if we were ready to order when we had just sat).
We got a couple drinks which were good, then asked our server about the “Seafood Tower” ($95!) since we were indecisive and it seemed to have a lot of food. We asked if the tower would be too much for two people and she responded “Ball out if you want.” Didn’t really answer our question, so we asked how many oysters came with the tower as the menu only claimed to be “stacked high with our Bull River oysters!”. Our server responded “I don’t know I think either 6 or 12.”, then didn’t bother to check with the kitchen/manager. We decided to get it anyway because we figured the $95 “Seafood Tower” would surely have enough food for the two of us…
When the tower arrived we were very disappointed. There was much less food than we thought at that price, and the presentation was lacking. It did have 12 oysters, which definitely doesn’t equate to “stacked high”, but we figured there wouldn’t be more than a dozen. The rest of the tower consisted of two shrimp skewers, a generous amount of tuna tartare with a few too little chips, and a singular lobster roll (rather than multiple “mini lobster rolls” as the menu described).
The food was all good and we had no complaints other than the oysters being on the smaller side, but hardly worth $95. My girlfriend and I aren’t big eaters, but we were both still hungry after finishing. We didn’t really want to give anymore business to Sorry Charlie’s at that point, so after paying our $120+tip bill we left to get some Chinese food.
In conclusion, we enjoyed the taste of our food and the ambiance of the rooftop, but ultimately the misleading menu description and gross overpricing of the seafood tower soiled our experience. Our lackadaisical server was the cherry on top.
While I can’t speak on other menu items or the first floor of the restaurant, I can say with 100% confidence: DO NOT GET THE SEAFOOD TOWER, and probably don’t sit on the rooftop unless you’re just getting drinks.
