Surprise, it’s gourmet. I saw a lot of amazing foods coming out. I was holding out for the snakebite pasta and cowboy candy jalapeños. Super good Amazing would be a better word, but still not quite grand enough.
This place produces some incredible food. I hear they have a new menu coming out. I couldn’t imagine what else they are adding. You should go now and try some things and then go again after the menu upgrade to find even more amazing dishes they create.
Price is good, food is great, staff are fun and attentive. The location is spotless and fun. Great place to go with friends, a date, work party, or in my case, alone. I prefer alone. That way I can buy more for me. Leftovers… mouth watering even when cold… Give them 10 stars and a smiley face sticker. They are doing amazing thing here.

The National is a great local spot in Cullman. My bartender and server (Jessica, I believe) was awesome to chat with – not being local to here, but visiting semi-frequently. I needed a light lunch and to catch some games I had placed some bets on. This was a great spot to do just that. Good food, excellent service, and an excellent atmosphere. I’ll likely return next time I’m in Cullman. 9/10.

I was in town with some friends for 2nd Friday and instead of eating at one of the food trucks, my friend suggested going to The National. We stopped to look at the menu board out on the sidewalk and saw blackened grouper and we were sold. We were greeted by the waitress and we took a table by the front window. I had the grouper which was melt in your mouth delicious along with green beans and brussels sprouts. Washed it all down with a Mich Ultra. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu when we asked her some questions. We had a good dinner and look forward to going back.

The burgers are amazing. One of the best burgers my husband said. The chicken Schnitzel is absolutely delicious. Tender and so flavorful. Prices are good and the service went above and beyond. Definitely worth the trip and money!!

National has a lovely atmosphere and the reason I liked it so much. The food was good, highly recommend the chicken wings and salmon! Chicken breast sandwich was on the drier side but tolerable and fries were great! DO NOT DRINK THE WATER, Cullman water was disgusting and everyone who took a sip immediately ordered something else.

Stopped by for lunch on a Friday and found this place well run and organized. It is small but the chef was hard at work visible thru the window if you sit at the bar. Our bartender Claire was very friendly and knowledgeable and mixes a delicious old fashion.
The service was quick and food presented well and tasted great. We had the seared salmon and chicken fried chicken. Both were cook perfectly.

Brunch is 11-2 on Saturdays and Sundays

Fully recommend visiting. I’ll definitely be going back.

I stopped by the National with some friends after they recommended it for brunch. I’m so torn writing this review. I find myself complimenting many aspects but having to give the whole truth takes away from the greatness of this hidden gem.

The atmosphere, seating and staff were all great but they did have a fly problem in the restaurant. They did go away after a while but it took away from the aura and experience. The staff checked up on us multiple times throughout our meal to refill water etc. which was welcomed!

The food was very good! We tried the 8oz. bar steak and eggs, chicken and french toast, and the Nashville chicken. All the plates were cleaned which is good but I do have doubts about the 8 oz steak. Of course there’s no way to vibe check the restaurant on the weights, it just seemed a little smaller than 8 oz steaks at other restaurants. Like I said, it’s so hard to write this review as I find myself complimenting the restaurant but also taking away from the compliment to give the whole truth.

From reading other reviews it seems like two big complaints are the staff’s attitude and taste of the food/ incorrect orders. I am quite happy that we did not encounter either of these issues during our visit!

All in all, I would def come back to The National, I would like to try some of the other food they have!!

The best meal I have ever eaten in Cullman!

We both had fish specials & cleaned our plates. Hubby & I still talk about how heavenly the crembrulee was to this day!! I think the only real chef in town must work here.

I would not recommend the restaurant for LARGE parties as it’s a very intimate restaurant.

I’ll start with the good things, the Sweat Tea Brined Pork Chop I ordered was great! It was a big portion size and one of the thickest pork chops I’ve ever had. The restaurant is nice and that’s where the good stops. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. We got our drinks right away but 35 minutes later we finally got the Pimento dip we ordered. Half the chips were stale and the bread did not seem fresh at all. Another 10 minutes go by and I get the salad I ordered, and then an hour later we receive our entries. My Pork chop was very good, my girlfriend’s
alfredo was not. Extremely bland, it was as if they just forgot any seasoning. I asked her if she wanted a box to go and she said it’s not even worth taking home. The only reason I’m giving three stars is because my pork chop was good and they comped our meal because of the wait. The kitchen is basically open to see from the dining area and the kitchen appeared to be in chaos the entire time we were there.

We had a group of 13. Our waitress was amazing! Happy birthday to her! My husband and I both got the chicken schnitzel that was seasoned well and cooked perfectly!! Sehr gut! Other got the salmon special, red snapper, pork, steak and i have no idea on the rest as they were sorting too far to see! Everyone enjoyed their food and all said it was delicious!
