What a really cool local gem! We wanted to get away from the chain restaurants and decided to give this place a try. What was once a consignment shop-turned restaurant, we really enjoyed not only the food, but the atmosphere itself! Aside from the kitchen area and the tables, the inside still looks like a store. This really makes this so unique! The staff are very friendly, and the food is very tasty….tastes just like homemade!! Great little place hidden away that is worth the visit!!

This quaint, rustic diner-esque establishment rests right off of Main Street and nestles perfectly into the bustling downtown scene. The couple who own and operate the restaurant, David and Teresa, provide top-notch, hospitable, countryside service and the absolute best breakfast in the greater Rapid City area. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m to 11 a.m. There is a small gift shop area reminiscent of a Cracker Barrel and old-fashioned antique shop combined to further bolster the nostalgia and hometown feel factors. The food is seasoned perfectly, the dishes are very simple, yet pop with flavor and appeal, and the atmosphere could not be more welcoming. Many options are available for the kids, from French toast sticks to oatmeal and several others to round out the family-friendly dining experience. I highly recommend the Mud Bog, Mud Benedict, Mud Hash Bash, steak burrito, All Meat Omelet, biscuits & gravy, and 2 egg breakfast. This is one of those rare small restaurants that leave you feeling phenomenal, fulfilled, and like part of the family. Such a treasure to stumble upon and one that instantly becomes a major player on the consumer food map.

Overall good experience, the food was very good. Coffee was not that good though. Service was fair, the waitress seemed a little less than enthused to be working, but the kitchen staff that came out to the table and took payment were very friendly and nice. They keep the prices very inexpensive due to paper plates, I had no problem with it, they were sturdy, premium paper plates at least. 4 ate breakfast for $45(included tax and 20% tip). Great little restaurant!!

The best place in Rapid City for an old time breakfast. The eggs Benedict is incredible, and of course, the biscuits and gravy. This is a restaurant like no other. Half is a restaurant, and half is a second hand or antique shop.

When you wake up this morning, you face the uncertain crossroads of breakfast destinations. In response, you can Mud Up or you can Shut Up. As far as I’m concerned the Mud Hole of Black Hills definitively answers the question what eatery in Rapid City has the best Mud Bog. I’ve traveled to a lot of places and eaten my share of Mud Bogs, but this one is the créme of the crop. Our morning fog jog was a real bog slog, and I was starving for a decent Mud Bog. I was hungry as a hog, and the gravy left me agog. This restaurant has 5 stars, because that is all I am legally allowed to give, but if this scale is ever expanded I could see myself giving this restaurant 7 or even 8 stars out of 5. The staff is super nice, and my only wish is I had known to ask ahead of time about the Bog Grog.
