We dined at The Mill this Valentine’s weekend and had a fantastic experience. They were offering a special limited three-course menu for the occasion. Our reservation was for 6:30, but we arrived around 6:15 and were able to valet quickly with no wait. From there, we eased over to the hostess stand and were immediately seated at a beautiful window table.
We came hungry and ready to enjoy every bite.
We started with the braised rib meatballs served over mashed potatoes and gravy. When I say those meatballs were packed with flavor, I mean I could have ordered another round and called it a night. They were incredibly tender, rich, and perfectly seasoned. I cleaned that dish like I worked in the back washing plates. Absolutely amazing.
For the entrée, I had the bacon-wrapped filet mignon with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was prepared to perfection — tender, juicy, and flavorful. While Stoney River still holds my personal top steak spot, this filet was excellent and definitely held its own. Another clean plate!
To finish, I had the cheesecake for dessert. It was the perfect portion size after the first two courses. It had a subtle blend of traditional cheesecake with a hint of key lime, which made it light, refreshing, and just sweet enough to close out the meal nicely.
Overall, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was great, and the entire evening flowed smoothly. We will absolutely be back.
The food is fantastic!
We had the brie appetizer with sourdough bread. It was DELICIOUS.
My wife had the filet and I had the strip steaks. BOTH were cooked perfectly.
Our server DAWN was great, friendly and professional. We never had to ask for a thing as she kept our waters and proseccos filled.
The atmosphere is cozy with a lot of wood, almost a lodge feel. They keep the lights dim and they offer outdoor dining.
We highly recommend this establishment.
Our waitress was Fiona and she was so nice and did a great job checking on us throughout the entire meal. The interior design gives a very peaceful yet elegant vibes. They also have outside and inside seating.
It is a bit expensive which we went during dinner time hours. The only small issue we had was there was numerous horse flies that kept trying to land on our food which we sat inside. Other than that, we were pleasantly pleased and will definitely be coming back.
It can get a little loud in there (no matter the time of day), but that’s part of the lively brunch vibe we’ve come to expect. We love coming here on weekends because you can actually make a reservation — which is huge. Our table of 13 was easily accommodated after booking just two days ahead. Always a great experience, and always worth the visit.
I also had the parsnip, apple, and celery root bisque for the first time. It had a nice texture and a subtle blend of earthy and lightly sweet notes — quite different from typical soups but comforting in its own way.
What made the visit even better was sitting by the fireplace outside on a cool October day — warm, cozy atmosphere and relaxed service. Overall, a nice spot to unwind and try something a little different.
We shared the fried green tomatoes, milk house salad, and short rib. All amazing.
I recently recommended this restaurant to a colleague and he said it was one of the best restaurants he’s ever been to.
It’s fairly busy even on a Monday. We arrived soon after opening and had no problem getting a seat, but I would make a reservation next time.
This was the perfect brunch stop for a morning hike on the Vickery Creek trail. Would definitely recommend.
I don’t recall a changing table in the restroom.
Pros: service, food, indoor and outdoor seating options
Cons: restrooms could be cleaner
The food also took quite a while to arrive, and while it was okay, it wasn’t anything memorable. On top of that, the air conditioning was very poor, which made the wait even more uncomfortable. For two small plates and one big plate, the total came to around $60–65. Given the slow service, average food, and uncomfortable atmosphere, it didn’t feel worth the price.
