Looks too crowded on Sunday morning?
They can handle the post mass masses with style and professionalism.
FIRST – they know how to to a tea service. About two cups of really hot water, TWO tea bags, lemon and honey. TIP – put both bags in the pot and let them steep for a minute before pouring. Saves on the wet tea bag mess.
SECOND – the BEST breakfast deal in town is the house special with A POUND of ham off the bone, THREE eggs, choice of potato and either 2 pancakes or 2 slices of toast. TIP #2 – i asked for one slice of toast and one pancake. They are very accommodating.
The proprietor is an old school restaurant host, checking on each and every table during their meal.
&& the Sunday crowd ? efficiently handled with aplomb and style.

Best diner in town by far. The food is very good and servings are generous. The service is always very good. Peter does a great job making everyone feel welcome.

The French toast was great, everything else was just okay. Probably would have been good if it was hot. The waitress was not good, seemed very scattered. The helpers were excellent, they never let your coffee cup empty.

Came in for breakfast with my boyfriend and the waitress we had seemed like she was really jealous of me making weird comments and things like that directed towards me and being passive aggressive and for as old as she looked she should be mature enough to know how to hide her jealousy I didn’t get her name however it was the flat back with curly hair. Other than that the food was great! Next time I come if they give me this server again I will ask for a different server.

This place is great to be honest. I walked in and was given a sucker by I’m guessing was possibly the owner a very friendly and happy personality. Everyone loves a smile. I was seated very fast I looked over their menu and couldn’t decide what I wanted. So I ended up getting the chicken Alfredo with corn as my vegetable and I had the chicken enchilada soup. The Alfredo could use some garlic but in all I would rate them a 5 star because you just don’t get service or a hot meal like this anymore. Didn’t have room for dessert but maybe next time I’ll just stop in for a piece of cake or pie they looked delicious in the case at the front.

Good little cafe with average food. The service was good and the place was clean. There are many choices on the menu and I’m sure you will find something to your liking.

Had a very early appointment an hour from home. We arrived in town an hour earlier then the appointment. And being not familiar with Michigan City at all, we were hungry and needed coffee. So after a quick Google search we chose Michigan City Sugar Bowl. Loved the name. The decor was a sunny yellow with crisp white trim. And was spotless. Our server was so nice. And everything we had was wonderful. We met the owner 2 steps into the restaurant. After our appointment we went back for lunch! We will be back in town in a few weeks and are already planning to stop in.
