The Mermaid Cafe is a unique restaurant with great food and great ambience.
It’s just across the street from the lake, with a front porch for sitting and enjoying a cocktail.
Inside is comfortable tables and a good bar scene.
Unique appetizers and there’s usually a special. The special is usually something special.
Sausage and cheese plate, onion rings or choices of wings or dips
Are a nice starter.
Good salads and the ceasar is excellent.
Entrees are a treat. The filet is tender and cooked per your order. The redfish is great and the catfish is the thin, crispy filets that you crave.
Sides are good. Good fries, great Brussels Sprouts and other veggies.
Excellent skillet cookie.
The service is friendly. The owner is usually there to greet you and make sure your experience is enjoyed.
There nothing to complain about. Can be crowded at peak times Friday and Saturday. It’s worth the wait.

This was our first time at The Mermaid Cafe and it certainly will not be our last. Each dish was perfection and the staff was excellent! The Stuffed Catfish in particular was amazing!

Atmosphere is ok! Manager (Matt Taylor) is very rude! I order some food and it wasn’t what I expected it to be. I politely asked to send it back. She accepted it. Although, I did not eat it. I was still charged and he stated that’s not how WE do things. He stated, “the menu say what it is, so.” I told him I didn’t touch it and he was very rude and dismissive. I will NEVER be back!

My family and I visited to celebrate my Aunt’s birthday. The food, the waiter and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great! We sat on the front porch of the restaurant as we awaited our party to be seated inside the restaurant. The view of the lake is breathtaking and so relaxing! I will definitely be back to visit! I ordered the stuffed catfish and it was delicious! I also ordered the fudge brownie to-go and I highly recommend both!

A good little spot that could go casual or fancy depending on your preference. I got two specials- the soup, a mushroom one that was super tasty and a baked Brie with pepper jelly, toasted walnuts and pita bread. The mermaid splash was tasty- super sweet. Overall good, I just wish there was an outdoor seating option, the weather and sunset would have been perfect for that!

0/10 do not recommend. My wings were fried to hard and I don’t know what type of salad that was, but it was definitely not a house salad. Ooh and this hot shrimp dip full of grease.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was really nice. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The spinach and artichoke dip tasted amazing. The wings felt defrosted and not that fresh. French fries were crispy and seasoned well. The chicken angel hair pasta tasted a bit too salty for me. The desserts, Gia Gia and bread pudding were alright. They also tasted defrosted. Overall,it is 7/10.

Went here for the first time and it was really good! We got the pimiento cheese fritters and they were pretty good. I got the catfish that is stuffed with crawfish and it tasted great. I also tried some of the salmon and it was cooked perfectly and was seasoned really good. The sides I tried weren’t awesome though. I got the green beans and I like green beans that are cooked all of the way through and they were crunchy.

My wife and I found this place in that was a little of the normal path and enjoyed all of it. My wife had the Mediterranean Salad with Shrimp which she said was amazing. I had the House Smoked Salmon Appetizer as a meal which was delicious. Our drinks were excellent, the menu was great, and the service was excellent. When traveling through again we will stop and enjoy again.

Matt Taylor manager does not carry an example of leadership or integrity concerning the customer experience of this establishment, he was not interested in the customer opinion of the food and was told thats the way things are ran at this place of business.. Very dissatisfied.
