My family and I visited today for the first time and everything was absolutely amazing! The building still has the same cozy atmosphere as it did when it was Traders Cove. The service was great and the food so incredibly good. I loved that you could order at the counter or scan the QR code at the table to order. It took me way too long to visit this spot but I will definitely be a repeat customer from here on out!

The Mercury Cafe and Teahouse is a lovely, somewhat hidden spot that is definitely worth a visit. I first stopped by on February 24th for an iced coffee; while it wasn’t quite to my personal taste ( I prefer mine a bit sweeter or more flavor added), the experience was pleasant enough that I wanted to return. I came back today to try more of the menu and had the lunch special. While it was well-prepared, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me personally, but I’m already looking forward to trying the nachos next time! On a high note, the Blueberry Cobbler latte was absolutely fantastic—I loved it. I also took a ‘Honey Bee’ to go, which was quite nice. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly, and the prices are very reasonable—often better than other local coffee shops. With its great atmosphere, proximity to the park, and location near the Wharf, it’s the perfect spot for a coffee or tea date. I’m looking forward to exploring the latte menu on my next visit! ( when you do visit watch your footing on the walking path. It sits in a historic area so the path is stone . i would love to see coffee items that was set back in the day when Old New castle was founded) But defiantly think I found my coffee place.

A must go spot. I came all the way from Southern Maryland to visit New Castle and this place. My food and tea came out very quick and was very tasty. If I ever come back to New Castle, I will for sure be coming back to here!

This is a very unique historical location that has a small banquet area, great coffeehouse vibe, and outdoor seating. Vegetarian but has vegan modifications were needed, very unique food selections. Beer and alcohol also creative drinks. Located in Old Newcastle Delaware, beautiful area for some sightseeing and casual walks. They also have a bed-and-breakfast if you want to stay locally.

Mercury Cafe & Tea Room is a hidden gem in New Castle.
I wish there were more vegan spots like this! The food is freshly prepared, flavorful, and served in generous portions. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and happy to accommodate dietary needs.
The space is large, yet thoughtfully designed to allow for both cozy gatherings and more intimate seating. There’s also a charming outdoor area perfect for a relaxing meal in the fresh air.
They offer a lovely selection of coffee and tea to complement your meal. Definitely a place worth visiting—and revisiting!

The best vegan food in New Castle County. Amazing meat-free, healthy options at reasonable prices. Plus this place is so cute! Great atmosphere. Set up in a historic house – the staff can tell you about the history.
I bring many non-vegetarians here and they all love it.
Don’t miss the fantastic coffee, tea, or cocktails. Great spot for a weekend brunch or evening dinner. Date night or family night.

What a treat to find this vegetarian gem! The cozy colonial building provides multiple levels and rooms of ambience. Ordering food is at the bar. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only con we experienced was trying to decide from the MANY delicious sounding options the pulled oat pork sandwich was a highlight and I highly recommend. The salads were a right balance of greens, toppings, and dressing (not drowning like mostly places create). The hummus and tzatziki plate was great for a kid, lots of options. The impossible burger had a great seasoning to it with a sweet bun. The Dutch Hot Toddy is perfect on a cold and rainy day. All in all, the best meal on the trip so far and I recommend you give it a try, vegetarian or not.

What a cute cafe. They have it all! From artisan tea to carefully crafted cocktails to being in a historic building to immaculate vibes. Plus it’s all vegetarian and everything can easily be made vegan. My only critique is the Merc Melt could use a little more sauce/flavor but everything was excellent! I have nothing but good things to say. It was all so tasty and staff was kind and helpful. Highly recommend!
