Dining Experience at the Merchants of Spice

Today, 20th March, I made a reservation at this popular Indian restaurant with two friends. Although we were thirty minutes late due to traffic, the restaurant kindly agreed to hold our booking. Since my friends are vegetarians, I decided to join them and opted for a vegetarian dish, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

The restaurant had a great staff-to-customer ratio, allowing us to receive our meals promptly. When there was a mix-up with one of the dishes, the staff handled it immediately and professionally. Despite the restaurant being nearly full, the atmosphere remained relaxing, enhanced by the staff’s attentiveness without being overbearing.

Additionally, the restaurant boasts a spacious car park, making it easy to find a parking spot without any hassle.

This is the best Indian I have had. It was an absolute pleasure to dine at The Merchants Of Spice 2 Norwich, Norfolk.

A real authentic warm ambiance, I loved the music & the big round table we had was perfect for the six of us.The food quality is unmatched, really clean feel, The tika platter is a must the lamb Rogan josh was superb also.
The naan was perfect with a slight toasted bottom, quite unique & tasted lovely.

The service second to non, staff polite & more than ready to help us.

Nish the owner was up front & center he can be very proud of his restaurant, this is number 2 I believe & I have no doubt they’ll be a number 3 in the future.

Thank you for a great night.

Oh also I must add there’s a very big spacious car park which was lovely because normally that’s the biggest nightmare.
Was lovely to have onsite parking. We traveled in two cars so that was a big help.

Brilliant Indian Restaurant. Fantastic menu, lots of favourites and chef specials. I have tasted many of them, and they are all great.
Seating outside is lovely during the warmer months.

The food was incredible, we ate the chicken tikka masala and the railway lamb curry, both were very good. The lamb samosas, tandoori chicken and the shish kebab were also very delicious. The servers are friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely. If you’re looking for a good Indian restaurant in Norwich I would highly recommend this place.

Saturday night visit. Ive been going to the Merchants of Spice for years as the food really is top notch. You never get anything but great friendly service at the Colegate restaurant, its just a shame the Yarmouth road location isnt the same. The food was great, but the service, although efficient, was very unfriendly. Staff never made eye contact or gave even a hint of a smile. We felt like an inconvenience to them. I always tip the staff but not on this occasion and I wont be going to this particular restaurant again.
Can’t fault the food, but service poor!

As a converted pub this venue does not have the elegance of the Norwich City one, but the food is fantastic, thecstaff attentive but not intrusive. I was surprised to see how busy it was at 6pm on a Wednesday evening.
Well worth a visit.
