This hidden gem serves phenomenal food, bursting with fresh, local flavors, like a perfectly seared ribeye that came with delicious mashed potatoes, tender mussels with an amazing tasting Thai coconut cream sauce, and a crisp berry hazelnut salad. You hop on a landing craft to cross the sparkling bay, then hike a short, scenic trail through lush forest to reach it, with jaw-dropping ocean views unfolding at every turn. It’s an unforgettable experience where every bite and vista feels like pure magic.

We took a water taxi(which was a great experience) and arrived at our destination to find we had a decent walk to the lodge in front of us. While I normally wouldn’t mind, I was dressed for dinner, not walking down long gravel roads. The option of a pick up service via side by side would be a nice addition! We arrived to the gorgeous restaurant and were originally seated at a table in the middle of the room next to a fake grass wall, right by the bathrooms. We requested to be moved and our waitress moved us to a tiny table in the corner with no view. We were very disappointed by this as a view with dinner was our goal! We were a party of two, so that may be why, but other parties of two were seated at larger tables with great views. The seafood chowder was one of the best I’ve had. Full of flavor and had lots of seafood, but it was a bit gritty in a few bites(sand from clams/shrimp?) this was slightly off putting. We got dessert to go as we were so full. We ordered one of each of the two options. The desserts going out to eat there were a good size, the ones we got to go were way smaller than the ones we saw going to tables. With that being said they were also delicious especially the carrot cake! Just wish there was more consistency between to go and for there. The cocktails options were fantastic, and the bartender was kind and personable. The food was absolutely delicious, all the way from the Brie appetizer, to the seafood chowder to the ribeye dinner. Everything was seasoned wonderfully, and had no need for salt and pepper. The view was incredible and the deck was a nice place to sit and take in the view with a drink after dinner.

I wanted this to be an exciting, unique adventure, but it fell below expectations across the board. Expected the taxi ride out to be interesting, but the captain didn’t say a single word to the group on the ride out. Got a nice greeting and nice walk up to the beautiful restaurant with a great view. The food was all very good, but beyond ridiculously expensive. $46 for 5 quarter sized scallops with a tiny salad is just embarassing. All of the food was good, but just way overpriced. The drinks were probably the highlight of the meal. Again on the ride back, the captain didn’t say a word, no looking for whales, etc. Ended up being almost $300 with dinner and water taxi. It has the potential to be a super unique amazing experience, but fell well below that on our visit. Would not do it again.

As others have stated – this is an amazing place. Beautiful small off the grid and super high end – yet very close to homer. Hate to be critical but gotta be said:

The portion sizes are incredibly small as they figure this out. Especially for pasta which really has no excuse (it’s a main – not pasta course or anything). Everyone in my party went to get additional food at 9pm after spending $100 per person. This isn’t fine dining with a tasting menu. Please please if you have a nearly $60 pasta with a few shrimp – it’s gotta larger than a tiny little bowl.

Fantastic new spot and an amazing evening experience. The boat ride out to The Meandering Goat was beautiful and the ambiance was stunning. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The focaccia and scallops were the chef’s kiss. If you are digging some fun bevos, this place has some great choices!

They were also very flexible with vegetarian options and made me a beautiful veggie dish.

I was impressed from start to finish! The atmosphere is great, the scenery is beautiful, the buildings are gorgeous and the food is absolutely delicious! The halibut cheek appetizer was fun flavors, the ribeye was cooked just right, the scallops sliced like butter and the drink choices were fun. We walked around a little bit and so want to come back for the gorgeous sauna. Customer service (including water taxi) was superb. We will definitely will be back again!

Just getting to the restaurant set the tone for the whole evening. The appetizers were to die for. We had the pesto and goat cheese flatbread, and the Halibut cheeks. Order both; they are delicious! I had decided that I didn’t like Halibut cheeks previously, but the Meandering Goat changed my mind. The coconut crust was crunchy and just thick enough, the horseradish fruit sauce was amazing. I would eat anything dipped in that sauce. The bartender has crafted some delicious drinks. I recommend the Blackberry smash. My Halibut main course was a decent size, but I didn’t love the eggy coating. The steak was juicy and so big that it couldn’t be finished. Our vegetables were too under done, but the fingerling potatoes and wilted greens were delicious. We ordered the carrot cake to go because we were stuffed. That was the best carrot cake I have eaten in my whole life. I wish we had gotten three or four to go. Seriously their pastry chef needs a raise! The peaceful boat ride to and from the restaurant is peaceful and made us feel quite special. We will definitely be back. Hopefully the Halibut will be seared or grilled without egg next time.
Once your boat arrives they drive you in a 4 wheeler!

Everything from the boat ride there from Homer, to the service and the food was excellent. The Halibut Cheeks appetizer was exceptional. My ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and the side of seafood chowder was the best I’ve had in years. My wife absolutely loved her pan seared herb crusted halibut. Portions were large enough we have lunch for tomorrow. Our server Dane was awesome as was the entire personable staff.

An outstanding experience. Definitely one of the best atmospheres and views of a restaurant I’ve experienced hands down. Had the wild game bolognese that was out of this world. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to dine here.

Throughout the summer I’ve taken all my guest to every restaurant in Homer and hands down The Meandering Goat was the best. The food was amazing, breathtaking views and the water taxi ride was an added bonus. Ty was super friendly and responsive in helping with reservations and water taxi transportation. I can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.
