When we arrived, we were seated in the bar area. That wasn’t a big deal to us — it was an early reservation and we don’t drink, but we were happy just to be there together. There were two couples seated before us and two after us. Every one of them was helped promptly.
We were not.
It took about 15 minutes just to receive water. Our waiter asked about drinks from the bar; we declined, though my wife did order a tea. We then ordered two appetizers, which took about 30 minutes to arrive. I even had to ask for menus so we could order our entrées — something I shouldn’t have had to do, especially since other tables were given menus immediately upon being seated.
Then came the most frustrating part. We waited an hour and a half and still had no dinner. During that time, our waiter never checked back on us. Instead, he seated another couple at the same shared table and began serving them completely — while my wife and I sat there with menus but nothing else. No updates. No explanation. No acknowledgment.
It was embarrassing and incredibly disappointing, especially on Valentine’s Day.
As a longtime business owner, I understand that restaurants get busy and that mistakes happen. What matters is communication and basic attentiveness. Unfortunately, we received neither.
This was supposed to be a special evening. Instead, it turned into one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had — particularly disheartening in my own hometown.
I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously so no other couple has to experience the same treatment.

This has become our go-to spot for breakfast—and often lunch too—anytime we’re in town. We’ve been here countless times, and what keeps us coming back is the unbeatable combo of great food and even better hospitality.
The staff is incredibly friendly and genuinely accommodating. They always go out of their way to adjust the TVs so our girls can watch Bluey during breakfast—which, as any parent knows, is a game-changer. It’s those little touches that make the experience not just enjoyable but memorable.
The food? Always fresh, always delicious. My personal favorites are the chicken and waffles or their burger. Quinn is all about the pancakes, and Zuri loves their classic eggs breakfast. Every meal is consistently on point.
If you’re looking for a warm, welcoming spot that treats you like family and serves up high-quality comfort food—The Mark at Elon is it.
We asked to sit at an open table by the window, but we’re told no because they were holding it for some regulars.
Two other parties were served before us that came in well after.
Once we had our food we never saw our server again until she brought the bill. We had no drinks while we ate.
Food was okay though.
