Very nice restaurant and ambience. We came to try some of our favorite French foods and were not disappointed. Unfortunately they were out of the Merlot Beef which was disappointing and the main thing we went for. The steak was well cooked but a bit under seasoned, fries and compound butter were great. Chicken was beautiful and succulent and the leeks and cabbage accomodating were great. The cavier appetizer was disappointing there was not much caviar and the portion was extremely small for 30 dollars. Bone marrow was great and the paired nicely with the focaccia. Overall a pleasant experience.

Our first visit to The Marc was spectacular.
I was a bit nervous about the dress code since I came straight from work and wasn’t exactly dressed up but the staff were warm, welcoming, and professional. The atmosphere was more easygoing and casual than expected.
Now the food… absolutely phenomenal. Everything came out quicker than expected and tasted amazing. For appetizers, we had the lentil soup (highly recommend—super fresh and flavorful) and the crispy croquettes. But the mains were even better: a perfectly fried pork chop that made me forget I’m not usually a pork fan (I finished every bite), and a Croque Madame sandwich that tasted exactly like the one I had in France, complete with a fresh, crisp salad on the side.

Top marks for service, food, and vibe. We’ll definitely be back.

Excellent French cuisine! I had the coq au vin and it was absolutely delicious. The cocktails were also very well made and complemented the meal perfectly. Highly recommend!

We went to The Marc for Valentine’s Day and left feeling pretty underwhelmed, especially for the price.

Our reservation was at 5:00 pm when they opened, and despite arriving a few minutes early, we were made to wait outside in the cold until exactly 5:00. Not the best first impression for a special occasion dinner.

Inside, things didn’t improve much. No one offered to take our coats, and we were seated right beside the cocktail bar, which took away from the intimate atmosphere we were hoping for. The host mentioned the feature drinks but didn’t explain them, and throughout the night dishes were dropped off with no description, just “here’s your duck,” etc., which made the experience feel pretty transactional.

The $95 set menu isn’t outrageous for Valentine’s Day, but it’s still a splurge. We’ve had similarly priced set menus at other restaurants that delivered a far more polished experience in both food and service. Paper napkins on the table also felt like a strange choice at that price point.

Food-wise, the salad and oysters were good but not memorable. The duck tasted fine but had a weak sear and hadn’t rested properly, and both mains were quite small. Dessert was the highlight, the panna cotta was excellent and the chocolate torte was good.

Overall, we’d rate it about a 3/5. Not a bad meal, but for the cost and the occasion, it didn’t feel worth it. We wouldn’t return for a set menu experience.

The Marc is off the mark. We have enjoyed The Marc over the years but after our experience last weekend we won’t be back. We were looking for great food in a cozy atmosphere on a cold winter night. We were surprised to get a reservation last minute for a Friday night as historically the restaurant is pretty consistently full. When we arrived the restaurant was only half full. In spite of that it took longer than it should have to be greeted at the door. We were given paper menus and paper napkins. The food was pricey and not very interesting but nicely cooked and presented. The service was unremarkable. The atmosphere was cold. A bit of soft holiday music in the background and a string of white lights on a plant. Otherwise devoid of any character. We won’t be back.

Came in for a meal with a dear friend tonight and enjoyed every oz of the evening from start to finish! The charcuterie trio and entrecôte were perfectly executed and the warm atmosphere made us feel like family 😉

Thanks to the wonderful team at the Marc!

my close friend reserved us a table here for new years eve to celebrate, and it was lovely. it was both of our first times dining at a more formal restaurant so we were a bit nervous about the vibes. however our waiter was extremely friendly the whole time, which helped us feel right at home. the food was amazing – the new years eve menu was a 4 course meal, and everything we had was spectacular.
there is not too much decor in there, it’s quite minimal, but I don’t mind too much, it was still comfortable. if you’re interested in French cuisine and looking for a nice night out, this is a great spot!

Our first time in downtown Edmonton, we decided to start exploring the downtown area to start out the day at this location.
We reserved in advance and was greeted with very friendly ladies who quickly accommodated us in a big bright window seat.
The seats are comfortable and the service was quick.
The portions of our order was very generous and our palate was greeted with light, smooth, crisp, fresh, warm, delicious flavors that filled us up.
The drinking water served was refreshing and clean tasting.
This was a really nice start of our day.
