The Malt House – Greenwich Village, New York, NY

Relatively chill for an NYU bar with a pretty good (10 – 15 taps) craft beer selection. The real draw however is their happy hour.

We (family of four, kids are teens, from Texas) stopped in on a Friday night around 5:30. The bar area had a good crowd and was lively. The manager saw us walk in and immediately greeted us and got us to a table in the restaurant area. We were able to enjoy happy hour drinks and order a delicious meal. We had a double smash burger, the malt house burger, and the braised short rib. Everything was delicious, especially the short rib. Worth every penny. So full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and the potatoes were divine too. We also loved the fresh cut fries with the burgers.

The environment was comfy and cozy. So glad we found ourselves in the area and stopped in. Highly recommend.

I visited this place today over lunch as i was wandering around in New York (my first time). I was looking for a place to eat and have a beer. I felt welcome from the moment I came in. The food amd drinks were excellent, the service was above my expectations and overall the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. I came for one drink and i ended staying there for 2 hours! Absolutely brilliant! I’ll come back!

We found this cool bar restaurant, so we decided to step in and had a great time. The bartender was really good and tentative. No, we didn’t really have any food. They seem to have good food. I recommend this place.

We went there for happy hour and ended up staying later. The staff is top tier and they know the menu! We had the wings, pork sliders, parm fries, chicken tenders with a sauce on it (delicious) and for drinks: Moscow mule and an old fashion. The atmosphere was buzzing as they got a lot of traffic for a Thursday evening. The bathrooms are clean and very unique! They have a good menu and bar options!

The unlimited brunch was awesome. If they have the frozen espresso martinis as their drink of the week, don’t skip it. The food and drinks were great but what really stood out was the service! The server(I don’t know her name, but she was from Michigan) was highly attentive to each table. A+ work!

On February 12th 2022 I went on an awesome 15 hour first date. Thee of the most awesome hours happened at The Malt House.
The MET (4hrs), Dinner (1.5 hrs), a Drive (1 hr), then a walkabout (30 mins) in the Village. On our walk we stumbled onto this place. The people were outstanding. It’s almost like they understand they’re in a service industry and service is always the day’s special.
For four years me and the lady reminisced over the experience yet could not recall the name nor the location of the place we displayed such blushable and embarrassing PDA.
A week before valentines day 2026, with my genius investigative skills I found the place: And that became part of our valentines day plans 4 years and 2 days since date 1.

Again, outstanding service, outstanding people. They seem to really care about the people who walk through their doors.
BRAVO GUYS!!
I dont know how to thank you for the experience. We are glad you enhanced the first memory with a stellar second.

Now for some minor critiques.
1. All the mixed drinks are delicious but a little bit weak on the alcohol.
2. The beer selection is limited. May i suggest Brooklyn Lagger and Allagash Curieux.

Add’l: Sitting at the bar this time around, we realized why this place resonated with our vibe. The music is awesome.

Thanks. We’ll be back. Especially on the 12th or 14th of February.

Pretty empty on a Saturday late afternoon in the summer and quite easy to find a seat indoor or outside. Large list of beers, cocktails, bar food, and more.

Had the Malt House Light, IPA, Amber and I can’t say that I liked any of them… not a fan of an amber that’s sour; or an IPA that’s mostly bitter.

Would come back for the vibes.

I was sitting outside with my dog, planning to have dinner with my friend, when Jardy, the waiter, kindly invited us to come inside because it was too cold. I couldn’t believe it. After living in Manhattan for 36 years, I have never experienced this level of genuine kindness toward a customer, especially with a dog.

The food was excellent, but what touched me the most was the warmth and sincerity with which they treated us like family. I have never felt this kind of hospitality anywhere else in New York.

I am truly grateful, and that’s why I’m leaving this review. From now on, I’ll definitely be a loyal regular at this restaurant.

The Melthouse is my favorite spot in NYC!
If you’re craving an amazing burger, look no further. Their signature burger is juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked every time. One of my absolute favorites on the menu is the Chef’s BEC sandwich it’s on another level!

Dinner at The Melthouse is always a treat, especially when I start with their warm Bavarian pretzel soft, salty, and just perfect with a side of mustard or cheese dip.

The drinks never disappoint either. I always go for an Aperol Spritz, and it’s consistently refreshing and perfectly balanced.

The vibe is great, the staff is friendly, and the food and drinks are top-notch. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality meal in a cozy yet lively spot!
