My GF and I came here for lunch on a random rainy Tuesday. This being my first experience, I was uncertain of what I would find… Luckily there were no issues with parking and we got off to a great start. No wait for a table, we sat quickly in a booth and started off through the menu. Everything looked good, we ordered a couple Irish coffees as I was pleased they had a full bar, as well as the crab cakes to start. The crab cake was delicious though a bit overpowered by the greens… Presentation is 3 out of 5 nothing fancy. We next ordered fish and chips as well as the thin cut rib eye sandwich…. Both were EXCELLENT! only unnotable mention was the sauce for the fish and chips… Wasn’t really our thing… Tartar is hokey, yes… But it’s a crowd favorite on the table. Our service was on point, and our server was attentive without being annoying and stayed nicely professional through the entire meal. Timing was perfect and we enjoyed our time from start to visit.

We had a “Galentine’s Day” girlfriend lunch here. It was fabulous! Service was impeccable and food as well. Cutest ladies ‘ room ever. Crab cakes were the best I’ve ever had♡. We’ll be back for sure.

Loved it
The staff was really nice and the place was Impeccable. From the restrooms to the bar nothing was out of place. The Benedict was spot on and the Greyhound served me well, I would love to try dinner.

My one star rating is based solely on the fact they are illegally charging a surcharge fee to support new legislation. Was not notified of the surcharge prior to being seated or ordering. I also didn’t notice anything on the menu stating it either. I will be reporting to the BBB.
Food was good. Not anything above and beyond. Service was also good.

Stopped in for breakfast this morning. It was amazing. Food was prepared to perfection. I had bacon and eggs and my husband, eggs Benedict. Prices are real reasonable. We didn’t have to drive down the hill, so we saved on time and gas too. The chef was brought around and introduced to everyone. It was just a great way to start our day. We will be back for sure. Quality of the food along with great service was a win win. Thanks for a great experience.

Went there with my family for a joint birthday dinner with my Wife.
The restaurant was quiet with only a few patrons there. Old timey music was playing softly over the sound system.
Our service started out well. Bread, water and an order of the Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were awesome. Would have been great without the pomegranate seeds, but when one of those ended up in a bite as well, they were over the top amazing.
I had the sirloin with scalloped potatoes and prawns. I ordered my steak medium rare because I like meat that isn’t grey or akin to shoe leather.
My steak was slightly over done, but not to the point where I felt obligated to send it back. Steak and sides were served on a cutting board, which was a nice touch.
About midway through the meal, the head chef came out to check on us and apologize for a delay with the lobster tail for my father’s order.
Overall, the food was fantastic. Aside from the few small miscues mentioned, I can find no fault and it’s just as likely that those small things were one-offs that aren’t indicative of the staff’s commitment to a quality dining experience.

We eat here quite often and usually enjoy the food and the atmosphere. Today I visited with three other people and I ordered the fish and chips. These were the worst I have ever eaten. The breading was thick and oily and the fish was tasteless. I had my three guests try them as well and all agreed they were bad. When I relayed this to our server her only reply was that other customers liked the fish and chips. There was no apology for my terrible meal, no indication that she spoke to the chef and I was still charged full price for the terrible meal. I doubt I’ll eat here again.

I’m not one to write reviews but had to on this one. What a great place so beautiful inside it was like we went back in a time machine to the 1930’s.
Everyone at our table could not stop talking about how great their food was(made me happy as I picked the place).
Our server Julie (I think) was so helpful(and easy on the eyes) with picking the different wines to go with our dishes and she was spot on.
Great place you should not pass it up if you get a chance to dine there!

Went in for their $75 date night offer. We both had the Prime Rib. The place looks very nice inside. And service was polite. But, we did not like the bread, it was a grainy sourdough bread. Not hot or tasty. The prawn appetizer seem old and a little pasty. Not as fresh as I have had at other places. The prime rib was cooked as ordered but was not near as tender as expected. Filippi’s Italian Restaurant in Mira Mesa has Prime Rib so tender you can cut it with a fork and it costs $25.
The vegetables (asparagus and cheesy potatoes) were very good. Service was good but not great. Our drinks went empty and they forgot to bring my specifically requested drink when the meal was served. Without the date night discount the bill would have been $125.00. Way too much cost for a so-so meal.

I cannot comment on the quality of the food or the restaurant itself. Why am I leaving a 5 star review, and why do I think I am at liberty to comment on this restaurant? Allow me to explain!
This last weekend, my fiance and I were in a very difficult situation. Fires were raging through Oceanside, and we had our wedding scheduled for the weekend. We were evacuated from our home, and we were scrambling to change last minute wedding logistics. At the top of our priorities, was finding a new place that could store our wedding cake (our ceremony was in Ramona). Our previous location had its power shut down. Calling around to find a walk in fridge, The Main Course and its awesome owner allowed us (FREE OF CHARGE) to store our cake in their fridge. His generosity and character saved us from some serious worry and blood pressure!
I cannot comment on the restaurant itself, however I will make going to shake hands with the proprietor a top priority now; but in the meantime, it is run by a quality dude. Hope you enjoy!
