Indulgent Delights and Regal Flavors: Our Exquisite Evening at The Maharajah! ️
Stepping into this enchanting Indian haven on Castle Street, Cambridge, was like entering a culinary palace. The menu, a treasure trove of diverse delights, promised an epicurean journey like no other. @themaharajahcambs
The starters, oh, they set the bar high! The Keema Chilli Masala and the Tandoori Lamb Chops were the stars of our gastronomic adventure, tantalizing our taste buds with their rich, aromatic flavors. Each bite was a symphony of spices, a testament to the culinary mastery behind every dish.
But what truly made this evening unforgettable was Pervez and his team’s impeccable hospitality. Their warmth and dedication added an extra layer of charm to the already exquisite dining experience.
Leaving The Maharajah, we couldn’t help but plan our return. This wasn’t just a meal; it was an invitation to savor the richness of Indian cuisine in an atmosphere steeped in elegance and tradition.

Went here this evening for a meal with 4 others. Wonderful service from the whole team. My child (9) was noticed and was treated wonderfully, his own poppadom brought out etc. We all found the food fabulous, very tender meat, perfect naan bread. Veggie options really good. Its a shame I dont live closer or I would be a definite regular!

This meal was such a disappointment, especially as we’d been to Maharajah before and liked it. We’ve been going to curry places for many years and I can count on the fingers of one hand the times we’ve had a problem, but Maharajah on Saturday was one of those times. Basically, the food didn’t taste like any sort of herbs or spices or anything tasty had been anywhere near it.
I had a sag paneer and it tasted of fried spinach and fried paneer, nothing else – none of that lovely flavour I was expecting. My garlic chicken had a very little bit more going for it, but was also extremely bland with an overwhelming aftertaste of burnt garlic. My partner’s dishes were equally devoid of curry spices and disappointing. I wish we’d said something at the time, but we didn’t. The waiting staff seemed perfectly pleasant, and other diners seemed happy enough.
So disappointing – we’d really been looking forward to a good curry, and even more frustrating as our bill (which included a couple of alcoholic drinks) came to nearly £100. Our search for a decent curry place in Cambridge continues.

Came to try out this evening via too good to go. The manager was very welcoming and chatted about some of the dishes they serve and cuisine in the area I live (or lack of it!) I got a whole meal at a fantastic price recommended by the staff and was happy to go with their suggestion: a chicken bhuna. It was absolutely delicious and one of the better curries I have had in recent times. The Naan was also an absolute knockout and one of the best I have ever had . I will definitely recommend to friends and book a table in the new year. ⭐

Great place for a good Indian meal. Just outside the busy tourist centre of Cambridge so you can usually get a table here when everywhere else is packed. Lovely staff, good food, wine a bit too pricey but you make that choice. Limited parking near by.

The food was quite good, though maybe it could be a tad spicier. Had to waste a bit of Dal as they upsized both Veg side dishes though i only asked for the Okra to be bigger. Naans were fluffy, service was friendly, restaurant was nice and bright. A good address for a curry.

Delicious Indian food to satisfy my cravings for a red chicken tikka masala.
Very service minded staff, attentive and effective. It was a nice atmosphere as well.
My only complaint of the evening would be that the mango lassi lacked a bit of mango taste.
Portion sizes were good, food was delicious but 5 pounds for one portion of steamed rice was perhaps a bit cheeky.
Overall a great place.

Great experience with really great staff. We came here for our work Christmas do and we had a fantastic time. We were a big group but everything was organised so well. Big shout out to one of the staff members called Habibi, he was amazing and joined in on all the staff fun.

Had the vegetarian dansak and it was milder than ketchup. Feel like the “fairly hot” descriptor was misleading. I like a really hot curry (often order vindaloos) and I feel like as a vegetarian I didn’t have that option available. Mushroom Puri also tasted like someone had dropped half a kg of salt into it.
Everyone else in my group seemed to enjoy their food though. (All meat eaters).I can’t complain about the service. Atmosphere was quite rowdy but to be expected for a Saturday night.

I organised a special birthday meal for my mum at Maharajah. When I initially called to book the staff were really attentive and allowed me to book for a large number of people without pressure, they were helpful when I wanted to change the number and even offered to help me by offering to make a cake. On the night the staff were attentive, all the food came up in good time and was hot – no issues raised which is something the often happens with large groups. Staff were also very patient and didn’t rush us despite the fact they were closing. Food was delicious as usually. Would 100% recommend Maharajah for anyone looking for a nice meal out and also for anyone looking for group/party settings. 10/10 service on this occasion – thank you to staff at Maharajah for a lovely evening
