The Restaurant is a great spot for flavorful Indian food. The dishes are rich, aromatic, and clearly made with care. The curries are well-spiced, the naan is fresh and soft, and the portions are generous. The menu offers a nice variety, with plenty of options for both vegetarian and non vegetarians. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the service is prompt, making the overall experience very enjoyable. If you’re looking for delicious Indian cuisine in the Boston Square area, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit with a nice view.

This place USED to be really good, delicious food and drinks. But my recent visit was a hugeeeee disappointment. I don’t know if there’s been a change in ownership or chefs but all the food was bland and tasted unseasoned, basically like tomato sauce from the basmati to the curry to the masala. The only thing I really enjoyed was my mango lassi with ginger added.

Both the Maharaja Biryani and Chicken Chettinad we ordered were delicious. The staff was very attentive which was a plus. The food is fairly expensive at 25-30 dollars a plate but it was a worthwhile experience.

This place is impressive! In a city full of bad culinary (and other) options, this is one of the precious few good choices one can make. Genuine Indian fine dining done well.

We ordered a few items that historically have been a bad experience for me in other places and Maharaja delivers flawlessly. The galauti, seekh and a saag curry … all three hit the bullseye on quality, taste and portion size. There was a distinction in the flavors and consistency of the galauti and seekh … not just rolled in different shapes but actually made to be different. The chicken in the saag was tender and the gravy was perfectly seasoned.

I also loved the paneer Bhatura … I was not sure what to expect but then it arrived, it was exactly what I imagined. Again, flawless. No excess oil, just the right amount of paneer, coated on the inside of a fluffy poori which was holding its shape … well done!

Decor was very authentic … this is what I’d expect at a five star hotel restaurant in India. Nice street view, finished ceiling, wooden art panel, white table cloth (no paper) and quality silverware were all nice touches.

This place deserves the full five stars in all 3 categories. Compared to what passes for food in Boston, this place deserves more.

The restaurant looks nice and the service was fine, but the food was average.
The aalu chaat was tasty, but all the other dishes were just okay, nothing exceptional. The mango cocktail was good.
Overall a bit disappointing! There’s something wrong with all the Indian restaurants in Boston, besides madras dosa (love that).

We had the aalu chaat, hara bhara kebab (not melt in the mouth, more like a tikki), chicken lollipop, veg biryani (which did not taste like biryani at all and had broccoli and zucchini in it), dal makhani, paneer makhani (too sweet), kadhai paneer, bread basket (dry).

Sooo good! Will be back, everyone was so nice and the food was delicious. Felt like a fine dining experience and we got to sit by the window and look out into Harvard Square. So fun!

Every dish in this restaurant was good (nothing bad or amazing), just good. Wouldn’t mind going here for again if there’s not much around open.

The Maharaja combines excellent Indian food with great service and a nice atmosphere. It has a great selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. The place is a bit expensive being 20-30 dollars per person.

Delicious food, although pricey. Everything tastes authentic, the spices and flavours they use here reminds me of home. I order the shrimp biriyani and fish pakora through UberEats once a month. The portions are good too. When you ask for spicy/hot, it is truly very spicy, on a south Asian scale (coming from a Bangladeshi). This is the only Indian restaurant I like in Boston and I’ve tried all of them- even among the most popular spots, this place is truly underrated!

Food was excellent. Service was even better. Nice views from the second floor location. Goat curry and butter chapati were awesome. My wife enjoyed her chicken biryani. Will definitely go back.
