The bartender was especially impressive. She was very knowledgeable and attentive. He took the time to create a custom drink for my friend, and she absolutely loved it. I ordered an espresso martini made with rum, which was interesting and different from the usual vodka version. We didn’t order food this time since we stopped in before our dinner reservation elsewhere, but other tables had food that looked great. I’d love to come back specifically to try their food along with more cocktails. Overall, a great little speakeasy with solid drinks, great service, and a cozy vibe. I’d definitely return.
There are many speakeasies around town, as they have really gained popularity, and The Madam is one that really has that true prohibition secretive feel. It’s a small dark space that only seats eight. Reservations are recommended, especially outside of slower summer hours. We visited in July and were the only patrons for a couple of hours. (Downside to that is that they did close early, after we left, due to low turnout.)
We were greeted by bartender Kadek as he handed us each a small introductory sipping glass of his own delicious concoction. We each ordered a signature cocktail from the menu to start but trusted Kadek for the rest. He asked our tastes and made us each a couple of great cocktails of his choosing. There are a few lite bites to choose from as well, so we enjoyed some crab cakes and the truffle fries.
Being the only guests in the bar, we had fun getting to know Kadek. He was a few months into his 1 year hospitality internship with the hotel and quickly moved from serving to tending bar. We enjoyed learning about him growing up in Bali and his future career plans. He really made the experience great, and we never would have guessed that he was newer to creating cocktails.
We truly had a fun time. So much so that we went to the hotel desk and grabbed a room for the night so that we could enjoy Kadek and The Madam a little longer.
Well decorated in a dim room, little tables and seats. Perfect for conversation. The music and the audio system need some upgrades, but the experience is amazing.
Cute place, very cozy. Small food menu is available and the drinks are masterpieces!
