There are not a ton of Filipino restaurants in the East Bay, but the Lumpia Company gives me exactly what I need every time I’m there. Every bite brings up a lot of nostalgia & is packed with flavor.
I often find myself here when the Warriors are playing, because they’re usually playing it on their big screen out on the patio area or at their bar. Who wouldn’t want to snack on Lumpia, Pork Belly Chips, and Macghetti while they’re watching the game?
Pro Tip: Use the pork belly chips to scoop up some Macghetti for the perfect bite!!
The first time I tried the Pork Belly Chips was earlier this year. For about $10 you get a heaping pile of thinly sliced, lightly battered then deep fried pork belly. You have the option between Sinigang (tamarind seasoning) and Adobo (soy sauce and vinegar seasoning). The sinigang is my favorite! It also comes with a side of seasoned vinegar & sweet chili sauce for dipping.
I always get the Macghetti too. You definitely have to order it Kuya size. This last time around, we got it ‘hella hot’ and it tastes like they mix in some Buldak Sauce. Such good combination!!! It definitely packs a punch though. Sometimes we like to mix it up and add a fried egg to it (totally forgot this time).
The owner is usually helping out around in the dining area, bar, and kitchen. I’ve never been able to catch his name, but he is always so hospitable & very dedicated to his restaurant.
I am so grateful that the Lumpia Company brings the community together from homemade meals to a fun game night. They even host comedy nights as well! I’ll definitely be joining for a good laugh at their next one.
We ordered the Garlic Noodles,Garlic shrimp, dole whip, and lumpia. The garlic shrimp was good although I thought it would be nice if they had more chunks of garlic in there and a more pronounced garlic flavor. The shrimps were nicely grilled and were plump and delicious. The Garlic Noodles they made were of the dry style and not the dripping wet with sauce kind that I love. It’s decent enough but I wouldn’t go for it personally a second time. We got the chicken lumpia and it was the star of our order. The wrapper was deep fried until it was a perfect golden brown crunchy beauty on the outside and flavorful mix of ingredients on the inside. The dole whip we got was thick ,almost like frozen custard thick which was amazing. The pineapple flavor whip itself is a good palette cleanser or desert for the oily food you just ate but try to sprinkle some of the Li Hing Mui powder they have at the counter to kick the flavor up a notch.
It’s a great place to go with a bunch of friends or a huge party. There’s definitely plenty of seating all around the pier even if all the seats are taken up in and outside of the restaurant.
The staff is super helpful and friendly! Prices are a little high but it’s expected with good food!
Owner takes pride in the spot
Lumpia crispy and each bite packed with flavor. Good portions and the garlic noodls Smack!!! Beer on point. Unique flavors. Was playing sports on the TV. Couple arcade games feels like a safe spot with delicious bay certified food!
There are lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Lumpia is the main delicious food here with limited other choices. There are lots of craftbeer choices to pair with your meal.
