We ordered our food and waited, and waited and waited. I watched two different parties come in and eventually leave in that time- because no one had come to even give them menus. It was no fault of the waitress, she was busting her butt trying to get to everyone. Someone, who I believe was the owner came out and I thought she was going to help the overworked waitress but she spent 15 minutes talking about making a milkshake (I’m not sure it was ever made as she kept saying well I don’t have this or that). I was starting to get kind of nervous because by this time we had been there for over 45 minutes and hadn’t even gotten our food yet and we were starting to be crunched for time. Our food finally arrived, and everything was cold. Not just lukewarm, but actually cold and there were things missing from the order as well. Not having enough time to get any of this rectified, we just ate what we could, paid our bill and left – All three of us pretty disappointed with the experience.
While it was disappointing, I’m hoping it was just a bad day. The potential seems great and the menu and reviews that I read were excellent. I may try it again, but not on a Sunday morning, there was just not enough staff to make it run smoothly. My advice would be to hire another waitress, and if you see that your staff is overwhelmed, and people are waiting a long time for everything maybe pour some drinks, run out some orders – Because watching that one waitress struggle to keep up while there were other people not seeming really doing anything was frustrating especially because I believe it was the owner behind the counter.
I loved my French toast, that was the favorite part of my meal. It was warm, soft and moist; perfect combination. My omelette was well prepared. The breakfast potatoes tasted homemade they were perfect.
The coffee tasted a bit watered down but that’s my personal preference aside from that I was completely satisfied with my meal and the service provided.
I love the decor and the tv with the fish wall paper was a cute. I love the atmosphere and how the staff interacted with their regulars.
I would definitely recommend anyone to check them out.
Located on Van Houten in Clifton, we were greeted upon entering the Love of Grub by the staff at this bright and colorful Key West-esque vibe, very relaxed and laid back as first-timers. With the music of Bertie Higgins “Key Largo” playing in the background, my partner and I got a table immediately. The interior featured a cozy, vintage charm with its rustic wooden furniture and an abundance of natural light streaming through the large front windows.
Their menu serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch with vegetarian, keto-friendly, and gluten-free choices available upon request. We decided on the cheesesteak with a side of sweet potato fries and the chicken pesto wrap with a small garden salad.
After trying multiple cheesesteaks in Jersey and NYC, this restaurant came out a winner with the right balance of mushrooms, onions, and peppers with real American cheese, not from out of a can. The chicken pesto wrap was equally delicious with the fresh homemade pesto grown from the owner’s garden. The food was exceptional; one could tell everything was made from scratch, like you were in your family’s kitchen getting food made with love.
We were able to exchange words with the owner/chef, Tracey. She definitely puts her heart and soul into every aspect of her business and is dedicated to providing customers with the tastiest, freshest food possible. She’s a remarkable woman who gives back to the community by cooking for Clifton’s warming center for people experiencing homelessness.
From the moment we walked through the door, the staff’s friendliness and welcoming smiles set the tone for a memorable meal. They were attentive and knowledgeable and made us feel right at home, especially our server, Galvan. The price was comparable to the area.
This is one of those places where, if one were to ask the locals where they recommend eating, this would be on their list, which we can recommend.
Returned today, 3/8/23, to try their lunch. I had a cheeseburger on a toasted potato roll with sweet potato fries and it was absolutely delicious ! My brother had the pizza burger equally as delicious and my mother had the French toast also delicious. The cheeseburgers are handformed from real beef! It’s not a frozen patty! This is a great place!
