It is beautiful outside but the view can only help you so much. It took over an hour to get 6 wings, a salad, and two tacos. There were 4 tables outside and one inside so I’m not sure what took so long. The table next to us needed their food replaced twice and still couldn’t eat it because it was so bad. The waiter apologized and told them they’re dealing with a chef who has no idea what hes doing. Our wings were good. I was shocked at how small the portion of steak was on my salad. It also wasn’t seared so it had a bad texture and was presented like it was just tossed on the salad. The tacos were okay, but the mahi didn’t taste fresh and it didnt come out hot. We were also served alcohol when we requested a non alcoholic beer. $60 for 3 bites of steak, 6 wings, and two flash fried frozen tacos was not worth it to me.

This was my first time trying the Lookout. The food was pretty good. The staff were cordial. But the atmosphere is honestly what sets this restaurant apart.

I ordered a house salad with shrimp and mahi tacos that also come with french fries. My friend that joined me ordered a pizza with pepperoni and banana peppers. The food was really delicious. I liked that they charred the tortillas for my tacos and the bottom of the crust of the pizza. It wasn’t so much that there was any burnt taste, but enough to give a slight smokey flavor that we both enjoyed. The mahi tacos were flavorful and the fish planks were also nice and smokey.

We were there on a Saturday evening just in time for trivia so the place was pretty busy. Besides the bar, there was nowhere to dine inside. I would’ve preferred to eat outside on the deck anyhow, the view from the patio outside was pleasant and the temperature was perfect for outdoor dining. I found the size and shape of my chair a little difficult to sit in while eating, but I managed. It could be that you’re meant to eat your meal in your chair or that they’re just designed for giants, I’m not sure. At least they’re sturdy and not cheaply made, I will say that.

One thing that I didn’t notice right away, was that on my receipt I was charged tax twice. I couldn’t say what that was about, but I don’t think I’ve seen that from a restaurant before. Maybe it was due to something I ordered and maybe it was mentioned on the menu and I just didn’t pay it no attention.

Anyhow, I’d recommend checking this place out if you’ve never tried it. It’s up on a mountaintop and it’s not the easiest place to find if you’re not from the area. The road there is a long and steep one, so you might smell your brakes by the time you get back to the bottom of the hill this restaurant is on. And though the menu varies quite a bit in price, meaning it’s as expensive as it is affordable (if that makes sense). This is a unique and nice place to kill your hunger. Give it a try.

The view, the FOOD, the service… man, we wished we lived closer. We started with the Lamb Lollipops and were blown away at the perfection of the cook, the balance of flavors, and presentation. The Mahi Fish Tacos (newer menu item) are deliciously plated, and savory with some heat. No complaints about the Center Cut Steak, also cooked to perfection, it will melt in your mouth.

This place has so much potential , the food and service was excellent, the menu is very limited, and no frozen adult beverages. The view overlooking the Kanahawa River was beautiful, however the landscaping around the facility was lacking curb appeal.

Was visiting Charleston for a few days and wanted to discover local spots, started looking for nice views and this one came up. It’s amazing to find out where is located. We wanted to seat in the patio to enjoy the sunset but tables were not available. Then one came available in the patio but not sunset view… Yet. We moved, order drinks and saw a sunset table was available and asked the million dollar question…. And the answer was yes we can move you. There you see they are very friendly and care for their guests. The food was phenomenal! Got salmon, tuna and even desert! Everything was very well portioned and tasted great. Definitely will be suggesting it to friends heading to Charleston. Thank you all for everything.

We decided to go to The Lookout for our first visit for Restaurant Week in Charleston today. A big decider for us was being able to get the food to go, and The Lookout was one of the few we were wanting to try that were willing to do it. I’m definitely glad we chose to go here as the food was excellent, even after the drive home.

We each got the Ceasar salad, I got the Steak and Shrimp with garlic cream sauce and potatoes, my girlfriend got the stuffed chicken with Spinach, mushrooms and cheese on top of rice. The steak was perfectly cooked to a nice pink medium and was juicy and tender. The shrimp and garlic sauce added excellent flavors to the steak, and the potatoes had the perfect amount of spice to make them an excellent addition to the meal as well. The potatoes weren’t even mentioned on the menu but I’m very happy they were included. The chicken was nice and tender with a ton of complimentary flavors from the sauce and various things it was stuffed with. Either entrée you choose would be a great choice in my opinion. We finished the meal with two slices of turtle cheesecake, and those were exceptionally well prepared too. The caramel wasn’t too sweet or heavy but was the perfect, creamy compliment to give the cheesecake a nice variation of flavor.

In addition to the food, the building and location itself are very nice and relaxing. The restaurant is located by Eagle View apartments and there’s an amazing view of the city from high above (at least when the weather is clear, it was very foggy during our visit today). The building itself has a nice, relaxing, inviting interior, and while there’s not a ton of seating, that simply adds to the more relaxed vibe of the place. There is an attractive, well stocked bar, and a few tvs around as well.

Overall if you haven’t checked out The Lookout yet, I feel it is a nice little hidden gem that is absolutely worth your time.

Had a birthday dinner here for my husband. The atmosphere itself is definitely a 10/10! Food was decent for the price and our server was nice. I looked at reviews beforehand and people complained about the chairs but they didn’t bother us very comfortable and relaxing environment to enjoy a meal.

Awesome place with incredible views from the top of the mountain. Only restaraunt with views like this. Cool wait staff and food is top notch. Daily specials keep it “new”. Good selection of local and craft beer and they have cornhole and a buffet brunch on sundays

This restaurant was very accommodating to our very large group from out of town. Food was delicious and decently priced. Excellent service- staff was awesome. What a view! It is beautiful and pictures don’t do it justice…it is a must when visiting Charleston. It is a hidden gem away from the city.
*It can be a little tricky to find if you’re not from the area. It is on top of a mountain in a gated home community.

Visiting a friend who lives in SC and myself in OH. So WV is a good midway point for us to meet. Drove all the way up here because the view looked amazing and food looked great. Well now I guess the only thing I’m able to review is the view, because we pulled up and they’re CLOSED. NO SIGN ON DOOR STATING THEY’RE CLOSED, NO HOURS OF OPERATION POSTED. DESPITE HOURS ON GOOGLE SAYING OPEN 4pm-9pm. How disappointing. SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOME UPDATING
